Qantas Frequent Flyer is giving 30% off Classic Flight Reward seats in Economy on selected international routes until 19 June 2022.

The discount covers Qantas flights on eligible routes for travel dates between 23 July 2022 and 1 June 2023. It also covers various Jetstar flights for travel from 23 July 2022 until 25 March 2023.

The following Qantas routes are eligible for 30% off the points required for a Classic Flight Reward ticket in Economy:

  • Brisbane-Noumea
  • Sydney-Noumea
  • Sydney-Honolulu
  • Sydney-Bangkok
  • Melbourne-Delhi
  • Sydney-Jakarta

And the following Jetstar routes are on special:

  • Sydney-Seoul (Incheon)
  • Melbourne-Singapore
  • Melbourne-Bangkok
  • Sydney-Phuket
  • Melbourne-Phuket
  • Cairns-Denpasar
  • Darwin-Denpasar
  • Adelaide-Denpasar
  • Melbourne-Ho Chi Minh City
  • Sydney-Ho Chi Minh City

Here’s a map of the available routes:

The discount also applies to any connecting domestic flights. For example, if you book a Qantas Classic Reward ticket from Adelaide to Bangkok via Sydney, you’ll still get the 30% discount on the number of Qantas points required for the whole journey. You’ll still need to pay the taxes & carrier charges in full.

Unfortunately, this discount only covers Classic Flight Reward seats in Economy – not Premium Economy, Business or First Class. That said, you may be lucky enough to get a discount on seats to New Caledonia in Business as well if you book on the Qantas website. đŸ˜‰

Under Qantas’ current Flexible Classic Rewards policy, you can change or cancel any international Classic Reward booking made by 30 September 2022 until 31 December 2022. (Just be prepared to wait 8+ weeks for a refund of your taxes & carrier charges.)

To take advantage of this offer, book on the Qantas website or via the Qantas contact centre (if you can get through) by 19 June 2022. See the Qantas website for full terms & conditions.

Supposed to be economy only for selected Qantas and Jetstar routes as listed here but as someone from OzB has discovered, they accidentally included J seats in the sale for the SYD-NOU route.

Good deal for anyone wanting to go to Noumea :)

I booked SYD-BKK economy award for late August for 25,200 QFF points.

That same award is now 17,600 QFF points.

Is there a charge for cancelling awards? Rebook and save 7,600 QFF points.

No charge until the end of the year. But book the new seats first.

Is there a reason why one would need to book new seats first? I'd have 2 seats on same flight so wouldn't want to leave it that way more than a few hours.

In case they're suddenly not available and you're left without a seat. It's happened to me before....

Just to make sure that once you cancel your current seats there are new ones for you.

If there are extra seats already you could cancel the existing and book new ones. But otherwise can’t rely on your current seats going back into inventory if those are the same ones you want to rebook.

It takes only seconds for someone else to start booking those seats which takes them out of inventory.

And they may not go back into award inventory anyway eg if demand now is different to demand when they weee first released. The revenue modelling is COMPLEX!
