I never binge watch but this was the exception. .
Personally I think binge watching is one of the joys of the modern world
When I was young I loved nothing better than discovering a good long book, or trilogy, and then getting lost in it. In Year 7 I stalled reading
The Hobbit for a class book review for as long as possible as it sounded daggy. But I loved it and so looked to see what else the author had written that was in our school library. I found
The Lord of the Rings and nirvana was mine. Only problem was that it was the end of the last term and the library was closing on Friday till next year and it was Monday! So I read the three books in five days. That was the start of my looking for and ready good 1000 pagers if I could find them.
Many years later I was on a flight back from Europe and was browsing through what was on the IVR and did not see any movies that I had not already seen when I noticed
Game Of Thrones. My daughters had been hooked on GOT for a while along with another show called
Breaking Bad, both of which I had dismissed as not my cup of tea. I mean why would I want to watch a show based a teacher making drugs!!
So with the lack of movies on offer I thought I might as well give GOT a go, and bam I was hooked. I watch I think it was about 6 episodes all in a row, and on return home I quickly caught up on the other episodes I had mot yet seen.
Then Breaking Bad... and then..... Yes I had rediscovered my 100 pagers in a different form.
Now as to binge watching I won't normally sit down at watch all weekend etc. But I will watch say a series say most nights till it is finished, and I might watch to or even three episodes in a row. I find this really allows you to escape into the characters and plot-lines more.
Now I don't only watch series as I will say escape hiking with no technology. But when I discover a new series I really like (and by that I mean a GOOD one and not just any series), or a new series of a past favourite comes out, it is a little bit like Christmas for me and that buzz I got from reading Lord of the Rings that first time is rekindled.
