It’s been taking two attempts for me the last few days. I log in and then a few seconds later it “times out” and makes me log in againanyone else experiencing issues with logging in on the qatar website?

In addition, most of the cheaper Qantas tickets are ineligible to earn anything. On international bookings, only the following Qantas fare classes will earn any Qmiles or Qpoints:"Accrual on Qantas domestic flights are only eligible when they are in conjunction with an international flight marketed by either Qantas or Qatar Airways on the same ticket.
Anyone know if they are going to mail us physical cards? I got an image of one when I was matched, but I believe some lounges insist on a physical card for entry.
So, how to best use this benefit for upcoming domestic QF flights? Use the QR number and get lounge access but no FF points?
As has already been discussed quite alot - use QR number to get you into the QF lounge then change it to your QFF number and build status in QF now VA is going to be kneecapped for a few years!
Seems a bit disingenuous but needs must I suppose. How to change it? Would it be possible via the QF app?
It's a grey area. American expressly prohibits it. Qantas? It depends on the agent but I don't believe there's anything in the rules preventing it. The idea is to put your QR number against your booking, avail yourself of all the associated tier benefits, then change to your QF number at the last moment. You can do this with a lounge, gate or phone agent, although human intervention is best avoided. Once upon a time, the FInnair and Royal Jordanian websites allowed you to change the FF of other programs, provided the airlines involved used the same GDS (Amadeus, I think). I think that's hit and miss these days. Maybe Qatar's website allows you to do the same.
I would respectfully suggest that those who do go about switching FF numbers do so as quietly as possible. The last thing we need is for QF to explicitly outlaw like AA does.
Frankly speaking - those of who thinking of using QR for benefits, then switching to QF# later are too short-sighted.
Do you want Qantas to restrict you from lounges??? THAT is EXACTLY what will transpire in the future if you play silly buggers. Qantas will be watching QR members using their lounges VERY closely. Even more so - QR will be watching the exact same detail as QR will want that accrual file.
DONT bite the TWO hands which are feeding you.
I assume that when you enter the QF lounge as a QR gold, QR has to pay QF for this. Is this not a good thing for QF overall?
Assuming you flew QF with your QR details for earning, is there any cost to QF for QR providing points?
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
In FF & CC points world, almost every time I play the long game, everyone else plays selfishly and the opportunity disappears anywayThe operating carrier pays, but it may also depend on other contractual and partnership agreements between the individual airlines.
Forget about points, which is irrelevant. Think about the 100,000's of QF Silvers, Golds... which are now 2nd class citizens to the influx of QR plats riding on QF metal.
Think about priority boarding lines, which were already a disaster.
Think about ancillary revenue on lost fees from seat selection.
Think about the checked-in baggage weights QF needs to honour as part of oneworld.
Think about QRs new service to Brisbane, which QF had been blocking for since forever.
Do you see a trend?
Think logically.
One must strategically consider why QR offered a match to Velocity members.
Qantas is not kidding -- they NEED Virgin, to survive.
Maybe if Qantas actually paid Qatar for travellers to be able to earn Qpoints and Qmiles on domestic flights, travellers wouldn't need to hop between two programs just to get both points and perks from each flight, as people rightly expect.Frankly speaking - those of who thinking of using QR for benefits, then switching to QF# later are too short-sighted.

Presumably, QR will retaliate in kind for QF elites. That'll be interesting here on AFF.Do you want Qantas to restrict you from lounges???

But that's for everyone isn't it, not just QF pax? I thought @trippin_the_rift was referring to QF restricting access by QR elites to all lounges. They already do. Access to the QR lounges is based on class of travel, not OW status. QR sends OW elites travelling in Y to coughpy lounges.
