I have a bunch of travel in November / December and no one wants to fly United, understandbly![]()
I wouldn’t worry.SYD-SFO booked mid January
Agree, as much as i hate to say it, UA has significantly improved - esp ex SFO with the Polaris lounge. Catering is decent now (in J), and Polaris 1-2-1 is pretty good, though of course the flight attendants can still be hit or miss. I would now pick UA SFO-SYD direct rather than QF via LAX (i never thought i would utter those words).
You are basically describing QFpoor service, cancelled flights, lost luggage and cough lounges.

Agree, catering is definitely not on par with QF, but better than i expected (which was not very high). Polaris lounge can almost rival QF F.
A good friend has traded his QF FF for UA. He says he is “premier something something”. Excellent service, nice aircraft apparently. Airlines change , maybe sometimes for the better?They’ve always been a last resort for our business.
Anyone with any more intel on SFO flights on QF metal...?
We have a bunch of work trips coming up and no one wants to fly UA.
@pauly7 any insight?
I have been watching recent flight reports between Aus and USA and the food offering on Delta and United seem to be well above Qantas offerings.
General consensus amongst staff is that SFO is a long way off returningWe’ve had big reliability issues with United as well so we don’t use them. Long story and off topic.
Anyway still putting people on LAX and transferring.
Have a query into QF to see if SFO is going to return this year.
On another forum apparently they are trying to get more new 787’s from Boeing delivered and speed up the return of the A380’s in order to fulfil international demand…. So doesn’t sound hopeful that SFO will come back quickly…

They opened up new routes to India when SFO was there and waiting. It never seemed a priority for QFGeneral consensus amongst staff is that SFO is a long way off returning

But they had been planning to run BNE-LAX on A330’s at one stage hadn’t they so BNE-SFO could have been a option if they were serious about flying there.QF run 787’s to SFO not A330’s….
