Do you get tempted to indulge in the lounge, just because it's "free"?

My problem is I eat in the lounge and then can't refuse inflight service. I am getting better at saying no to inflight snacks domestically with the current offerings in Y.

However I do love to take as many TWG teabags from the KRIS lounge. I actually have a game where I try to beat how many bags i took the previous time i was in the lounge. So far I'm up to 26 bags from one visit.

I want to say "this is why we can't have nice things" but I also want to laugh and cheer you on from the sidelines

Generally I am required to drive after domestic flights so I have to be restrained with my drinking. On international flights I often have to drive after landing so I indulge myself initially but have to stop imbibing with sufficient time allowed to be safe to drive. If I am not driving after the flight then it is my duty to research the available stocks. The food generally is disappointing so that is easy to decline.

I am fairly particular in what I eat so I generally don't eat much in the lounge unless I know the food service is going to be worse. I even brought my own snacks on my AKL status credit run, just in case!

For an afternoon/evening flight, I will generally have a couple of drinks (Beer, G&T, or Wine). Its been quite a while since I would consider lounge food options as a meal. Morning flights maybe a slice of fruit toast and a juice, afternoon/evening maybe some cheese and crackers. And yes, its probably more a case of its available at no additional cost (I hesitate to use the word free).

But my favourite thing about lounges is that they generally have more comfortable seating and much cleaner toilet facilities. Showers are great to long-haul international flights, but clean toilets are important before every flight.

As leisure travellers we definitely do. We certainly don’t over do it but it’s exciting as we’re heading on a holiday and a glass of bubbles with bacon and eggs certainly starts the trip off! Been fortunate to have been in the F and J lounges in Dubai so have done lounge hops to try out different wines and the Moët and Chandon bar

My original access to lounges was paid for by me, back in the early 90s, as it was best for work purposes. I used the work stations, fax machine etc, and being able to leave my gear without worrying about it being nicked was reassuring. The showers, food and beverages were a pleasant extra.
Nowadays lounges are a lot different, with access to those with status and not necessarily for work - which isn't a bad thing as I'm due to retire in a few years and managed to tick over to LTG. Although, if you see a couple having bubbles in the morning at a lounge, that's MrsK and me heading off on holidays - it's one of our rituals.

Domestic trips and lounges aren’t anything special at all. The food is not as good as I eat at home and the wine is far below what I would ever buy.
Most times I’m driving so no big deal anyway.

I love International travel and lounges though. In most cases the lounges are actually very good.
I especially like airports that have multiple options eg. LHR T3. I was there yesterday and visited them all.

Today’s is the Platinum Wing at HEL. A sauna before a flight never gets old for me

This me. I’m really just looking for a quiet space away from people. Becoming difficult with the amount of pax with lounge access.
Though sometimes I’ll pop in and if it’s a zoo, I’ll head back out into the terminal and find a quiet spot.

The lounge novelty wore off a long time ago but it's still nice to be in a lounge instead of the terminal.

There was a time when I would drink too much and eat too much in the lounge and on board as I was travelling SYD-BNE almost weekly.

Now I don't travel so much domestically but I also don't drink while I'm in Australia but still eat too much.

The problem is there's a lot on offer and it's free.

As for drinking early in the day that's never been a problem for me. I was recently in SYD F lounge around 7:15am and had a couple of champagnes. I had 2 lots of eggs Benedict and by 8:30am I was bored.

We really enjoyed LH Senator lounge in Munich last month for the first time, very spacious and not busy. Food offering was great and I worked my way through quite a few liqueurs and discovered Amaro (Nonino) ! Who knew?

There are often some very good (and a large range of) self-serve spirits in the LH/LX/OS lounges across Europe. Those are some of the lounges where I particularly need to exercise restraint!

As a QF silver I still save my lounge vouchers for a time when I will have at least an hour or so in the lounge, so I will make sure to take advantage of the food and beverages. A lot of the time I'll depart in the AM so only coffee rather than alcohol for the drinks.

I'm disappointed in myself when I don't manage to take a shower in the lounge. I'm sure the novelty will wear off eventually which I think will be largely due to status based entry rather than single use vouchers and paid invites.

I indulge in coffee, juice and some food if there’s something I like available. I’m at the airport and waiting anyway, so may as well do it somewhere a little nicer and without having to pay inflated airport f&b concession pricing.

This is an appropriate thread to note that Mstr Scarlett usually enjoys his lounge time too:
he was very happy with the LH lounge LHR. Note the ramekin of gummy bears, just what any small human wants for breakfast!
