First time back since pre Covid and after a bit of a rocky start it ended up a pretty decent stay for 8 nights. Staff were friendly and helpful but a real lack of polish and a few areas they need to work on if I’m being picky.
Check in was a disaster as it was late night and a heap of flights got in similar time to us. No status recognition initially as we were put in a waiting room and watched several groups come in after us and jumped ahead of us. When we finally got to our rooms we had no luggage after 45 minutes still and the room was the same type as we had booked which was strange I thought. I called up and was told that our baggage was in fact at our upgraded pool access room and that staff had given us the wrong room at checkin. By time we got to our new room and became reacquainted with our luggage it was pushing 2am.
Room was great but was showing a few signs of age and the bed was 2x Queens (or Kings) pushed together to form a massive bed.
Its a massive resort and was pretty well booked out it seems with breakfast being a zoo so we ate at Club Millesime every day instead and they had a rather small but decent menu to choose from accompanied by a small buffet section. Even the club was busy for breakfast but thankfully our status ensured we had no problems getting a table each day. Evening coughtail hour in the club was fantastic with a good spread of food especially the amazing cakes to go with a decent drink selection.
Spent a bit of time at the swim up bar where the service and drinks quality was top notch. Used the massage vouchers and had a couple of massages by the beach and they were real good quality.
We were travelling with a large group so most days we went off on tours or sightseeing but thought our time at the hotel was mostly good and I dare say we will back some time next year

I agree with your comments based on my experience a few months ago. The lagoon access rooms are great but that lack of final polish means this resort misses the mark and being truly great.

Absolutely superb stay again. Yes there are better hotels in Jakarta but the status recognition at this hotel is always superb and the even go over and above what I would expect.
As it had been a few years since last visit I had forgotten about the 4pm checkout offered standard for Gold and above so when booking I had paid $60 to a rextend my stay as we weren’t heading to the airport until 5pm.
At check in it was reiterated that we would get that complimentary and he removed it from our bill. Room was a nice upgrade to an apartKent and even though it was showing a bit of age the room was large, bed was comfy and had a great kitchenette and laundry. The Premium wifi definitely was better than the standard service as I tried both to compare. Hotel has a small but comfortable EL that has all day snacks and soft drinks, juices etc and then in the evening has “Social Hour” which has a small but decent buffet with some real good food plus beers and wine. A dinner menu is offered and a small selection is available quality IMO. We also had breakfast in the EL each day which consisted of a small but good buffet and a small set menu. The hotel also has a bar where smoking is allowed but there is a non smoking section where we had a few coughtails. There is also restaurant, cafe and excellent chocolate shop that did superb hot chocolate. We ate at the restaurant one night and Accor Plus discount proactively offered. On the final day we checked out at 4pm and mentioned we were being picked up at 5pm so we’re told that they would take care of our luggage and we could go up to the EL and they would call us when our ride arrived. Staff were simply amazing throughout the stay and were friendly and knowledgeable. Hotel is set in a pretty good location being next to the rail station and just across the road from a couple of decent sized shopping malls. I did mention on another thread that whilst in the EL one day we did meet a Accor Plus staffer from head office and we sat and had a drink and chin wag which was quite enlightening and I was able to offer some thoughts on where the program was doing well or could improve. She took our photo with her and asked for our approval to use it on future promos and that she would also pass on our advice to the upper management of Accor.
Another brilliant stay though and can’t wait to get back again

Stayed one night in Graz and the rate incl. brekkie was really good. Scores an upgrade to a privilege room which is a bit bigger than the standard room and it includes free mini bar plus capsule coffee machine.
Very decent breakfast selection incl. several hot and cold options.
Hotel is located at Lendplatz which is a very nice and central area of Graz and all of the well known spots in the old heritage city are in walkable distance. Parking in the garage is 15€ per day.

No recognition at checkin, but got the top (18th) floor and our name on the bathroom door. Arrived on a late train and this, and the Ibis, were super handy. No idea what breakfast was like other than that it was €25 p.p.

If you want historic charm, don't stay here. As soon as you get sick of faux wood furnishings, head to Café Goldegg for breakfast, 500m down Argentiner Strasse, for a proper Viennese Cafe, without the tourists or tourist prices.

Had dinner a couple of nights which was satisfactory. The restaurant is one of those styled like a gaily coloured creche, the only disappointment being we weren't issued with colour pencils.

The welcome gift was the usual water bottles and three tiny chocolates in a comically small box. The good news was the sign on the minibar below. The minibar was restocked daily.

On the whole a good experience. Very friendly at reception and were able to assist with directions to the launderette, and steered us towards a few areas we wouldn’t have seen otherwise.

Room was a good size, with a view over the busy street. Noise did filter through though.

Street outside needs work, and is unfinished. Large potholes and rubbish all over the street - the result of dumping bags of rubbish, and aggressive seagulls then shredding the bags. This created a very poor first impression and even with some cleanup the problem existed every day.

Maybe bins with lids? Just a thought!

Room was a good size, but seemed very dated. Apparently they are being upgraded. If you have a look at the overhead view, the hotel is in the shape of a crocodile. We stayed down near the tail.

Hotel very busy (peak time of year). I think the hotel is struggling with staff and it being peak time of the year. Buffet dinner at night struggled to keep food supplies topped up. Bar queue was long.

There are a lot of tour groups that stay here. And I understand there are limited stay options. The hotel did its best.

I'm not going to waste much time on writing this - the synopsis is, avoid like the plague. The hotel is tired and in need of a major renovation. Carpets and furniture in the lobby area are all stained, and it wasn't any better in the room.

At check-in, I was advised that a welcome amenity was waiting for me in my room. When I got to the room, there was nothing there, so I called down to reception, who said they would bring it up. I told them I was going to bed as I had arrived late in the evening, and they advised they would make a note for it to be left in my room the following day. Well I'm sure you can guess where this is going - no amenity ever arrived. Yes I could have followed up again, but I simply couldn't be bothered.

I was upgraded to a Lakeview room, which I believe is the same as the Classic King room, simply with the view (which was nice). The room stank of stale urine, the carpets were stained, as was the lounge seat. On the maximum heat seating, the shower alternated between lukewarm and scalding without being touched, making for eventful and often painful showers.

The "restaurant" in the lobby was no better - I wouldn't call this a restaurant, it's a bar with a few tables. Ordering could only be done at the bar, and service was incredibly slow.

I would not recommend staying here - disappointing status recognition, poor service and a tired, poorly maintained hotel.

The Mercure Bloomsbury is not a bad location if you want to be near the West End. Not too far from Russell Sq Tube or a tad further to Holborn Tube.

I stayed there once and booked a Single rate and received a single bed in a room not much bigger than the bed

The Pullman further up the road would be nicer!

If you go in with low expectations, you may be okay. I wouldn't recommend it though. A supposed 5-star hotel with a 7.3/10 booking.com rating... how this property is a Pullman, I don't know. Ibis would be more appropriate.

I've stayed at the Pullman St Pancras twice, once as Gold in 2022, once as Platinum earlier this year. Each time for just the one night prior to an early Eurostar. Great location right on the northern edge of central London on the Euston Road, next to the British Library.

I don't recall any particular elite treatment that went above and beyond the usual. Drinks vouchers (which I didn't end up using either time). Small box of Belgian chocs in the room for the welcome gift. Didn't ask for late check out either time, but I think we checked in pretty early the first time and the room was ready. Bloomsbury used to be my preferred locale to try and stay. I stumbled on these a few years ago. They have several boutiquey hotels on Bedford Place - quiet street that runs between Bloomsbury Square Gardens and Russell Square.

The Mercure is supposedly a better hotel brand than the Ibis brand yet in Port Macquarie I found the Ibis Styles hotel was far superior to the Mercure in town. I’m not a fan of Ibis properties in general but we got a great upgrade there that had wonderful ocean views and the rooms were recently renovated by the looks.
As for Newcastle I don’t rate the Mercure at all and whilst the Novotel Beach Hotel is a touch more expensive it’s a decent step up. Coffs unfortunately has no decent Accor properties IMO

Ibis Styles are budget friendly but generally existing properties that Accor have acquired along the way and therefore aren’t the typical Ibis cookie cutter design and finish. The Port Macquarie* Ibis Styles used to be an independent hotel/motel (I have a vague recollection that some of the old signage was still up as it transitioned). But yes, great views from those rooms. Apparently the rooms at the back don’t rate at all.

TBH, once you get to rural / small town Oz locations, independent places are probably your best bet - unless there just happens to be a good chain property there.

*PQQ is quite a bit further away than the Central Coast and Newcastle! You might push it to Port Stephens. I was there last week at Bannisters. First time in the Nelson Bay area for decades - very nice, especially with the crazy weather this year. Forgot to pack shorts and swimwear!
