My understanding is that this deal is available to people of any age.

After 1 year, the card is renewed at different prices depending on whether you are over/under 27. The renewal price is €39 for 26/under or €62 for 27/over. If you cancel the subscription before the year is out then this is of course not payable.

I have used this card before. It's a good deal. Actually, it doesn't just cover German domestic routes; you can also get a discount on certain international routes. I used it to get discounts on (a) a return trip Germany-Prague and (b) a one-way ticket Germany-Budapest.
