737MAX back in service with BA subsidiary Comair? [no - 737 scimitar pack]

Flew this Saturday CPT-JNB on BA's South African subsidiary Comair. Had no idea anyone was flying them again. The latest I read is that there are still software problems (luckily only read so after the flight...)

Retrofitted -800NG with Split scimitar winglets. Commonly seen across the US also. Biggest way to tell a MAX is the cone shaped APU, LED Lights and curving nacelles engine design.

Any carrier even contemplating playing the MAX card at the moment in light of global bans would be asking to be closed down.

Split scimitar wings are not the definition of a 737 MAX - they have been around for many years. I think that I used to fly these often on Copa (a central american airline with gazzilions of 737's )

Right! I had no idea those wingtips existed on anything but a MAX.

Your going to see if these popping up all over the place soon Virgin this week have started the split scimitar retrofit program.

A refit program that delivers some small fuel burn savings but also nicely obscures the arrival into a fleet of some bargain basement priced Max variants... a few years away still for VA, but will certainly make for a lower key introduction of the type when it does happen.
