Asiana standby upgrades

I came across this post on Loyalty Lobby explaining how Asiana passengers can request a standby upgrade up to 4 days before departure for a fixed price. Pricing seems fairly reasonable, e.g. $560 on the SYD-ICN route. Although, it looks like only certain fare classes (and not the cheapest fares) are eligible. You find out whether the upgrade came through 3 hours before departure.

Anyone tried this?
