I fell a bit (OK more than a bit) short of SPG Plat over the last year, and was going to e-mail them this week (ahead of my 28/2 status change) to see if I could be comped a year, as I'm likely to re-qualify this year.
Checked my e-mail this afternoon, and I didn't need to. Received an e-mail basically saying I'm part of a select group of Platinum members who will be given an extra year of Platinum.

Together with my recent WP re-qualification, this should make for a very nice honeymoon in Jan 2012. Anyone else get a similar offer? I know we hear a lot about proactive comps from QF, but this is the first I've heard of one from SPG.

Brave New World of Gold it is come Feb... My employer puts me up in serviced apartments so no help from work travel. And in some locales it's been hard to justify a ho hum Sheraton or Westin (or in Singapore - that dreadful St Regis) over something off Tablet Hotels or designhotels.com - a well-designed and fetching room is far more interesting than another boxy suite IMO.

Then again, they don't do suite upgrades apparently. Might just write a TR on this one since I planned the trip around the W's opening - stay tuned!
