Dell XPS 15 - reviews?

Looks like my IT consultant is advising us to get a couple of new laptops for our business. He has suggested a Dell XPS 15 and "can be a bit pricey, but they’re good and they just work. I’m waiting on one of their weekly specials to look inviting enough."

Having been a long time user of Asus (well the last couple of iterations of my laptop), but I think my first one was a Dell.

Has anybody any positives/negatives from their own experiences. Have checked out review here: Dell XPS 15 - Full Review and Benchmarks

I've been very happy with mine, purchased almost a year ago, although "a bit pricey" is correct. I went with a 6th gen i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD and the FHD screen (1920x1080) and have not regretted it. I avoided the UHD touch display for 2 reasons - the reported battery drain and the gloss screen. I have been very happy with the matte display. Highly recommended.

Hmmm, interesting that cashrewards have a 10% discount + 5% cashback on XPS spend more than $1,500 - have flicked to my IT guy to see if he can beat that!

Dell aren’t offering what you want at the moment. You essentially want

XPS 15 9560 High Performance Laptop with InfinityEdge Display | Dell Australia

But with Windows 10 Pro. They’re only allowing you to choose Windows 10 Home at the moment.

I want it....now please! Bloody DELL - give me Windows 10 Pro :evil:

Two boxes (more like small suitcases) arrived from Dell on Friday . IT guy has already been in to collect so he can configure them using his much faster speeds for uploads . The excitement is building as the wait begins. A friend who is into gaming wants my machine - he only has 1GB . I presume he is talking about NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5 . He can't believe I won't use it for gaming - I think he wants to invite himself around to play some of his games

I must say I have to vouch for the reliability of the XPS line. My XPS 13 is now over 4 years old and been many places all over the world with me and is still working just fine. And it also remains the best keyboard I have used in a laptop...enjoy the new toy QFWP!

Now that I have said all this, you can just about guarantee it will kick the bucket this week...

Please tell me you upgraded to the 5yr ProSupport. The $ investment is amazingly small on the Dells for a great quality warranty.

We have supplied Dells for many years (mainly the higher end commercial models) and they are fantastic value. If you are prepared to order and know exactly what you want, always ring up. You can normally squeeze a few more points off them. If not, ask then for some more ram or a bigger hard drive.

Definitely extend it. Dell have the best bangs for bucks warranties of all the top tier. Nothing worse than getting a good deal on a computer and blowing it 18 months later cause its out of warranty. They are generally happy to discount on longer terms as well. For those machines which don't need 4hr 24x7 support, we are always putting on 5 years even if they are intended to be replaced in 3yrs. Keep in mind, battery only has 1 year in all cases.

Of all the hardware support, on almost all business equipment I regard Dell as one of the best.

I've got a Dell Precision 5520, which is the Business version of the XPS 15. Great laptop, and you can hackintosh the XPS 15 or Precision 5520 fairly easily.

Battery life is really great on 7th Gen Cores too.

NB, we got the Precision 5520, because of some build quality issues with some XPS 15s...

I've got a Dell Precision 5520, which is the Business version of the XPS 15. Great laptop, and you can hackintosh the XPS 15 or Precision 5520 fairly easily.

Battery life is really great on 7th Gen Cores too.

My #2 and #3 sons have XPS 15s, now ~18-24 months old and haven't missed a beat.

I have an XPS 13 9350 - touch screen and came with 256GB SSD; I replaced that with a Samsung 950 Pro 512GB SSD and Win 10 Pro instead of Home and also am VERY happy with it. I use it instead of an ipad now as it's not much bigger and much more versatile.

Nice. I have the 5510 and I think it's great.

We all have the 5510 and supplied a heap to various clients. Only complaint some users have is running Autocad Inventor and very large heavy graphics docs because of the shared gpu setup (but the pc's struggle to run the same files as well). Other than that, love them.
