I recently flew from GLA-LHR on BA (revenue) and then LHR-KUL on MH (Enrich redemption). At GLA I asked them to book me in for the LHR-KUL leg and check my luggage through to KUL (A OW feature). My EC number was on only the BA flight.

Something, somewhere, somehow happened and I earned 8000 Avios including J cabin bonus....

Normally I wouldn't post this publicly but I don't collect Avios (yet) but might be useful to someone before it gets closed.

I'm tempted to rearrange the UK family visiting sequence and engineer a GLA-LHR flight prior to forthcoming Enrich LHR-KUL-SYD. 6x J avios would be a good bonus. Suspect the misconnect anxiety will overcome me though

I don't think you need to engineer a connecting flight. Enrich redemptions probably books into a paid fare class as I got QFF points and SCs on mine.

Fingers crossed for 80K Avios if that doesn't change till July then

I know some people in the past were successful with QF points but I haven't managed to make it work - May 14, checked in at LHR for LHR-SYD (MH J) and made sure they changed enrich # to QF # - Nothing! Dec 14 likewise for SYD-KUL.

Only difference I can ascertain is that this time I didn't involve MH but rather had BA do the check in. Probably requires more data points...

Some Enrich redemptions do book into commercial fate classes I think, but you pay a lot more points for these. The cheapest redemptions book into non points earning I class.

I booked the basic redemption in economy (points plus taxes).

Perhaps it only works for Y not J.

I started this thread back in January and have just flown again (Mar 25) GLA -> LHR (Y) on QF redemption and then LHR -> KUL -> KBR on (J) MH redemption and guess what.....?

Yup, MH gave me points for an awards redemption again :-)

This time it was stranger. The GLA -> LHR were on a separate QF redemption (as opposed to a revenue BA) so I just had my QF FF on the booking from Glasgow (rather than BAEC/Avios). The MH points went straight through to QF (4918 plus 80 status credits to KUL and then an additional 308/20SC to KBR).

Very happy.

An update:
Mstr andye1 flew SYD-KUL-LHR (with connection revenue LHR-BCN BA fare) on a basic economy redemption last month. Credited TP/Avios for KUL-LHR leg only. Mrs andye received no credit with QFF for same flight
I just got back from UK flying LHR-KUL-SYD (no connecting flight) in the cheapest J redemption and have been given TP (160)/Avios(6557+1639) for first leg. Will wait to see what happens to the second leg but it looks like it is always worth entering a BAEC number on MH redemptions

Was your ticket in I or D class? I'd love to get Aa miles on a points plus pay redemption

D class. No idea if the glitch works for AA. Good luck

Kul-syd credited 140 tp and 5144 avios today :)
