Family rooms in europe (6 people)

Hi All,
Does anyone know if any of the main hotel chains do family rooms that accommodate 4 adults and 2 children (11 and 13) in one room
I have status with Hilton, SPG, Best western, Accor and IHG - but just about everywhere looks like I'll be up for 2 rooms..

Looking to stay in Zurich, Rome, Berlin, Cracow and Prague.

Cheers for any advice.

Never found one! Took the elderly in laws to Europe two years ago and searched and searched for the same thing in London and Rome. We ended up using Air BNB and had no problems getting three bedroom apartments.

Definitely second the AirBnb or other sites with apartments as a recommendation. After Christmas our family travelled through Europe (Paris/Somme, Brussels, Amsterdam, London). It was our first foray into AirBnb but all went surprisingly smoothly. We appreciated the extra space apartments provided as well as cooking/laundry facilities etc. over hotel accommodation. Plus, you get to experience life a little more like a local.

I want to use AirBNB in Asia with a large family of 9 too but am concerned that we could get left high and dry if they cancel at short notice. What happens if they do?

In one room? = No.

Some hotels will have family suites. But for 6 would need to get at least 2 bedrooms.

Or 2 hote rooms with 3. But even then Euoropean hotel are often tiny.



= Apartments, a solution where you will find to cater for 6 a lot more easily.

More space and cheaper than getting multiple hotel rooms.

Plus a you will have many more locations than the hotels that can easily accommodate 6 people in a suite.

I am struggling to imagine a situation where travelling in Europe (or anywhere for that matter) I would choose to share a single room with three other adults plus two children! I am definitely in favour of an apartment, 3 bedrooms at least.

Your chances of finding a single hotel room that will accommodate 6 people - four of them adults - will be very slim. I don't think it's even legal in most places to put that many into a single room. Two separate rooms or a 2-bedroom apartment will most likely be what you'll end up booking.

I asked my friends who also have children and traveled with them, they stayed outside the city center (15-20 minute train commute) which worked well. Bigger rooms and much more reasonable prices.
Another family of five traveled through several European countries in 2015.They used to rent apartments in Germany, Austria, and France. They stuck to listings that had multiple good reviews and ended up with great apartments in each location. Having a small kitchen and living area to stretch out was preferable for them. The apartments were the same price or less expensive that booking two B&B or hotel rooms.Hope that helps!

Also consider that many of the hotels in Europe are pretty old and were never designed with 'family rooms', some of the newer hotels you will find interconnecting rooms but may need to contact the hotel directly.
Self Catering/Apartments are the way forward when travelling as a family, especially with kids.
