Hotel drink vouchers

I've stayed at several hotels recently where I've been given a drink voucher at check-in as a welcome amenity/status benefit.

Generally the fine print on the voucher states that it can be redeemed only for a soft drink, house beer or house wine. But in every instance, when I've asked at the bar they have been happy to give me any drink I liked - even coughtails or champagne.

What are other people's experiences with this?

My experience with Accor, in Australia and overseas, is that they stick to the script (ie beer, house wine....)

Interesting - I got a gin & tonic at an Ibis Hotel this week.

1 nt in HH BNE 2 weeks ago with EL closed so free drinks and nibbles in Lobby Bar - clearly told only house wine and beer free.

I replied ‘But I know boomy’ - they replied ’WTF is boomy?’ - I stuck with a house beer or 3.

With Accor I have had a mixed experience, sometimes I have been allowed a house spirit, other times told only house beer, wine etc. Seems to depend very much on the bar attendant.

Interesting - I got a gin & tonic at an Ibis Hotel this week.

Ibis! Pah. Even at the Pullman in Paris I got the house plonk (but it was better than yer normal stuff )

Got to Versailles by train - train & metro are so easy in Paris. Most stations have a ticket booth, else there are multi-lingual machines that dispense tickets. I didn't bother with a multi-trip card. There weren't many people at Versailles - I guess its winter and the virus thing. The Sun...

Geez you're lucky. I would have expected them to turn around and say water only for you. And tap water at that
