jetstar and hnl- costs from non syd/mel ports

I was interested in a weeks holiday in HNL following JS announcements of their current specials. I costed the fare from ADL in March 07 and found the itinerary at $620 more than the relative MEL/HNL or SYD/HNL fare. Now I realise that I always pay more for connections for international flights but $620 seems somewhat excessive ( MEL/HNL return 16-23 Mar 07 = $869 : ADL/HNL same dates $1486)

Not sure about that anomaly other than to say that the flights ADL-MEL-ADL would be QF flights with JQ flight number. Sometimes these do not price as cheap on the JQ website.

You can reduce the $1486 quoted on JQ website for ADL-MEL-HNL-MEL-ADL by purchasing the 2 trips separately!

Purchase the MEL-HNL (JQ1 17:15-06:45) and HNL-MEL (JQ2 08:15-16:55) flights from the JQ website for $869 then ADL-MEL (QF684 13:15-15:00) and MEL-ADL (QF701 18:45-19:35) flights from the QF website for $240 (not including $4.40 credit card surcharge). This option will cost you $1099 saving $387. Note you will need to purchase the QF flights soon as the red-edeals for some departures are not available.

If you want to save even more then purchase ADL-MEL (QF684 13:15-15:00) from the QF website for $120 (not including credit card surcharge) and MEL-ADL (JQ368 21:40-22:20) from the JQ website for $69 (not including credit card surcharge). This option will cost you $1058 saving $428.

Hi there

JS is the code for the North Korean airline Air Koryo.

also Jetstar doesn't operate MEL-ADL it ops AVV-ADL , so add $80 each way AVV-MEL in a taxi.

Also while we are on the subject of JQ to HNL, they are still subject to government approval, and is Jetstar an approved carrier for the US VWP ????

There is a current special for HNL from SYD/MEL. Presumably this special does not extend to customers connecting from other ports.
