LHR - Concorde Room

I have questions regarding LHR, CCR - I believe we comply for access.

Family of 5 (3 adults & 2 kids) flying with BA in F, SYD-LHR arriving terminal 3, then transferring to terminal 5 to connect with BA, J to MAD - pretty sure we get access We fly MId Dec and BA LHR-MAD flights transfer from terminal 3 to 5.

We would like to offer guest passes but I'm not sure if we have 5 to guest or a lessor amount due to the kids - can kids guest?

You need to be travelling in BA First or a lower class but with an onwar/previous same day segment in BA First.

Thanks serfty - that BA/OW lounge information is very detailed & most helpful.

Any opinions on the how the airlines feel about kids guesting? Since we are flying from BNE-SYD-LHR, etc we have a few passes to guest.

We did this 3 years ago and had no trouble with access to the Concorde Lounge as it was all booked as one ticket. Have things changed now? The lounge staff did turn away a passenger who had flown in First from the States but had a separate business ticket with BA for Europe.

After much research here & FT, it appears that you will not get access. I would still turn up & try....

Just go to your designated lounge.

Just back from a great trip from Adelaide to Paris flying First with Qantas. Spent 2 wonderfully peaceful hours in the Concorde room in T5. There was no trouble with access and all the staff were very attentive. I didn't know there was a private dining area in the T3 First Lounge. Will have to try it next time.

Tilli - We're doing pretty much the same route shortly with just a two hour wait at Heathrow and would love to spend some time in the Concorde Room; Would an hour be about right to leave enough time to get to T3 and stumble onto the connection?

Be aware that boarding commences 30 minutes before your ex T5 flight and it can typically take an hour to do the transfer airside. (Took us 1:10 off QF31 last June)

Phew ...

We did not procrastinate! Largest Queues were at T5 Passport Check and Security.

So two hours between scheduled arrival and departure would not leave much time, if any to soak up the lounge atmosphere/facility.

Also, note that if you don't reach the T5 passport check/security within 35 minutes of the scheduled departure you might not be permitted to entry to T5 airside.

What is FCC?

I assumed we were just transiting and so there would be no security, passport/admin queues at all?

"FCC" - Flight connections centre. It a place at T3 where you can queue up to obtain your onward BP's.

FWIW, you shouldn't see your luggage until reaching your destination. However, on arrival at T5 they re-check your Passports, Boarding Passes and you need to re-submit to security.

Just emailed BA First in response to some confusion over CCR admittance.

My circumstances are that we are arriving on QF9 in First (WP as well), into T3.

I requested assistance with transferring to T5, for my onwards BA J flight into rome, and to book the day spa and a Cabana, for 5 hours.

Was advised that:

Thank you for your e-mail.

Unfortunately as you are travelling in to London with Qantas you would not be
permitted to access the Concord Room.

You would only have access to the Concord Room if you were travelling in First
Class with British Airways.

Please accept my apologies for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.

No, there is no access to the BA CCR unless you are travelling (in and/or out on) BA First. QF First does not qualify for entry to the CCR.

It has been like that since at least 2009, when I flew QF F into LHR - I could access Galleries First but not the CCR.

I've heard the only exception to the rule possibly is QF CL.

I believe many, many, many moons ago, this was the case, at least on an ad-hoc, not-in-the-rules basis (i.e. it depended on the front desk agent, because the entry cards were always - and still are - rather flaky).

EDIT: From a quick look, it seems some people are having luck. I assume emailing them in advance will force the rules to be looked up, with resulting refusal.

You can always try at reception, see what happens. I wouldn't bank my hopes on getting in, however.

Note carefully that the BA Concorde Room is not a oneworld registered lounge, so you cannot rely on the oneworld lounge access rules to get in.
