MH A330/A350 Throne J Seats - Current Thoughts

I have a couple of MH J sectors coming up on the A350 LHR-KUL and A330 KUL-SYD. I have preselected throne J seats on both sectors.

From those who have sampled the latest MH J product, is selecting the throne J seats the best way forward or is there a better option (A seats for example)?

Cons: less privacy, typical bulkhead issue (lights from the galley)

Any solo seat (A-side) is a win.

Why not try one throne and one A seat. Live a little ;-)

Thanks. As I am now a lowly SG, I am not in the bulkhead thrones, so the highlighted issues will be less of a problem.

The A seats closest to the window appear to be the most private. As these are my return sectors, I have a bit of time to mull over the options...

That's not most of the "throne seats". I think you mean bulkhead seats perhaps?

The other throne seats are great! More privacy. A direct window. Certainly they are the best IME.

I presume similar applies to AY A330's in J? Layout appears to be a mirror image of the MH layout.

It's been a while since I've been in the MH A330 J cabin but I remember liking 1K. I like the throne seats but 1K had better foot room in the bed position from what I remember.

On a sample size of 1 - 1A was really good (all the throne seats were gone).

You are offset to the left by about 45cm from the bulkhead entry, so traffic clearly passes you.

From your photographs, AY appears to have the best 'Economy Comfort' seats I have seen...

Primarily because the leg tunnel is narrower than the other seats. Will never do the throne seats again. Unable to bend the knees which makes it close to impossible to move legs.

I also generally don't like the throne seats with the exception 1K, as the footwell is much bigger since it's not being squashed inbetween 2 seats in front of you.

Agree, not only the leg tunnel but the gap to get out of the seat is extremely narrow too and you almost have to climb over them to get out without tripping.

The J throne non bulkhead seat footwell on the A350 shown below (newspaper added for prospective). Looks quite tight but will have to see how it goes. It would appear that the A seats against the window or bulkhead seats are the best option as the footwell has a taper on one side only instead of both sides in the throne seats...



MH have a nifty phone storage area on the J seat but is this load rating gone mad...

its not so obvious from the photobut for me the issue is that the narrow diameter if the tunnel prohibits the flexing of the knees even though my size 12 feet fit. This significantly inhibits movement.

Hope you have a better experience. I wont be doing Throne again.

This is what I found on the A350. The toes of my size 10 feet touch the top of the tunnel when in a relaxed reclined position. Knee room is only slightly more than foot height due to the ridge that is visible in the tunnel roof.

I found the almost fully reclined position when watching the entertainment monitor quite uncomfortable over long periods. It is far better to have less recline so your feet were not located on the flat area at the end of the tunnel (on the carpeted area instead).

Time to give the A330 A side single J seat a go now...

An aisle J seat on the A330 is shown below, with the same newspaper as used above for the A350. Some extra width is evident over the throne seat. Also, Seatguru has the arrangement of the A seats on the MH333 around the wrong way, so I ended up in an aisle A seat rather than a window A seat. Should not have trusted them...

Ouch, just thinking about my size 13's and 190 height - doesn't seem like it would be very comfy. (And I am a side sleeper)
