Myanmar E visa for Australians

From the 01 September 2014 you can get an E visa for Myanmar ( Burma). Currently there are certain restrictions, and it only applies to flying into Yangon, but this is certainly a step in the right direction for Myanmar

The cost is $ 50, and takes 5 days. They email you the E visa which you hand in on arrival at Yangon.

Just bumping this thread for those who might be considering travel to Myanmar.
The government e-visa service has been expanded to include 2 further ports of entry - Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw (the capital)

So now you can enter with the e-visa through Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw (previously only Yangon was allowed as an entry point for this visa type). This will give some flexibility to travellers who wish to arrive/depart from different cities.

My sources tell me this will be again extended in future to include the land border crossing points from Thailand (since August last year Myanmar has for the first time allowed overland travel from land border crossings shared with Thailand).

When I applied on-line last November, I sent it off Friday evening, and it was back on Wednesday. Good stuff.

Was having a look at this for an upcoming trip - it seems I can pay USD$50 or get it done via the embassy in London for £14 (~USD$20).

Seems it would be cheaper to do via the embassy. Apart from it being only a slightly higher amount of faffing around, am I missing anything else? For multiple people the saving is enough to consider doing it.

I did the e-visa only because I can't be without my passport for more than a few days.
