Qantas Status Hold (Parental Leave)

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone on AFF has taken advantage of QFF's 18month Status Hold offer when you welcome a new bubs?

Be keen to hear your experiences - e.g. even if you take 6 months parental leave, do you get the full 18 month extension?

Our experience has been full of glitches, but only to our benefit.
Wife (gold) did in 2018 with the first baby that was born in August.
Straight forward process, Applied in May 2018 with a letter of confinement from her obstetrician and letter of parental leave from her employer.
Usual status year is end of September. She got hers extended to September 2020....
She managed to retain gold by September 2020 with 605 SC. Come the 1st of October, that 605SC rolled over, and also her status expiry date flicked to September 2022.....
She then got the 300 SC boost at that time, setting her well on the way to obtain Platinum.

So the hold has been very beneficial for her, the gift that keeps giving. Really wonder what will happen in 2022,

Edit: The parental leave letter was only for the minimum 6 months - She eventually left the workforce, has had another baby and is doing what I consider one of the toughest jobs in raising what was 2 under 2.

So wait, off the first bat she only got a 12 month extension? From Sept 21 to Sept 22?
Slightly confused with your dates.

It is quite confusing.
6 month paid parental leave letter is the minimum requirement for Qantas, and supposed to get up to 18months extension

Firstly she got an extension for 2 years (2018-2020). Then somehow has gained another 2 years (2020-2022) without losing any status credits (in fact gaining another 300 with the Covid boost)

I'm putting it down to a Qantas IT glitch, but one that has done nothing but good things.

The way I read it - everyone should get 18 months upon receipt of a letter saying you are going to take minimum 6 months off.

Out of interest did you submit before baby came along or after?
