Retaining CX gold

Wonder if anyone has experience/knowledge of this. I have been a CX gold card holder for 3 years, this year I will be a about 2000 miles short even if I do an OZ domestic milage run.

Question is, does any know how flexible CX are regarding hitting enough miles to retain a level. I will do 1 milage runs, 2 is getting a little bit irrational.
