Using Status towards Wedding reception

Hi guys , I am beginning to plan my weding reception which i will coordinate in malaysia from australia for next yr and was wandering has anyone ever used their tier status to help in anyway,eg extrarooms for the functions, etc..more specifically towards starwood hotels (SPG Gold is what i hold).. Just chancing my arm i suppose
