So first things first, I have never written a trip report before and I certainly do not consider myself a writer so please bear with me as I learn. I had actually never intended to write a report of my trip however I have since been inspired by reading other members’ reports and decided to give it a go myself. I won’t write a return trip as I didn’t bother taking many photos but LAX – AKL was served by a refurbished 777-200. It made no difference to me, but means inconsistency with the premium economy product I guess. Anyway…
 
There was a very good reason for this trip, or so I would like to think so myself. It had been a dream of mine to attend the SEMA show in Las Vegas for quite a while now and my work situation last year meant that I was finally able to attend… providing I could find a way there. For those wondering, the SEMA show is a trade show, held in Las Vegas, for automotive parts and accessories. My reason for wanting to go was simple – I would finally be able to see all the cars I drool over on Instagram… in real life!
 
Being an SFSC (a new term I have learnt in the past week) my first step was to find appropriate flights. I was looking at various premium economy and business class options on and off for a few months then one night I came across an Air New Zealand fare that I was happy with in business. I booked and simply couldn’t wait until October.

Trip: Sydney – Auckland (SYD – AKL)
Flight: NZ102
Duration: 3hr 10min
Plane: Boeing 767-300
Seat: 2K
 
 
I did not take any photos of the check in area, but the process was quick and easy with nobody else in the priority line. I had pre-selected my seats and could have easily used one of the self-serve kiosks, but they were all busy anyway so I just headed straight for the counter. Quickly going through security, I headed straight for the relatively new Air New Zealand lounge for some breakfast.
 
		
		
	
	
		
	
 
		
	
The lounge is definitely far more impressive than the last time I visited with a clean, sleek appearance. There was a manned bar and other self-serve drink options as well as a decent food spread.

I tried to board as early as I could so that I could quickly snap some photos. In the end it didn’t really matter, as the business class cabin was only about one third full.
