Qantas is offering 50% off individual Qantas Club memberships to people who join or renew for one year by 11 April 2022.

With this deal, you could join Qantas Club for one year as a new member for $399 – a saving of $300. This comprises of the $99 Qantas Club joining fee, which is not being discounted, and a $300 annual membership fee (this is normally $600). This happens to be exactly the same price as a one-year Virgin Australia Lounge membership, but Qantas Club membership comes with access to many more lounges.

It normally costs $699 to join Qantas Club for one year at the full price, although there are various year-round Qantas Club discounts available to AFF Gold supporters, Qantas Business Rewards members and ANZ Frequent Flyer Black cardholders. Qantas also offers complimentary Qantas Club membership to Points Club Plus members.

If you’re already a Qantas Club member, you could renew your membership now for one year at a cost of $270 (normally $540). If your current Qantas Club membership has not yet expired, the additional 12 months will be added to the end of your existing membership period.

If you previously held a Qantas Club membership (or Qantas Gold status) which expired within the last 90 days, you can “renew” your membership using this offer and not have to pay a new joining fee. In this case, the start of your current membership period will be backdated to the date when your previous membership (or Gold status) expired.

This offer is not available on 2-year or 4-year Qantas Club memberships, nor for corporate scheme memberships.

The main benefit of Qantas Club membershipย is airport lounge access, where available, when departing on a same day flight marketed by Qantas or Jetstar. Qantas Club members can also bring a guest into the lounge with them for free.

Other advertised Qantas Club benefits include additional baggage allowance, priority check-in at selected international ports and access to dedicated service desks (although many of these were closed during the pandemic).

You’ll also earn 3 Qantas points per dollar spent on Qantas Club membership.

A 50% discount is the largest discount we’ve seen on Qantas Club membership in recent history. Prior to COVID-19, Qantas occasionally offered smaller discounts of up to 40%, although in past promotions it was also possible to get this discount when joining or renewing for 2 or even 4 years.

The most recent promotion on Qantas Club membership was in June 2021, when discounts and bonus status credits were offered.

Makes sense IMHO that it's not available to Points Club Plus members, since they already get complimentary Qantas Club membership. Although, I do get that some people might want to renew for when their PCP expires.

When I tried signing up it asked if I wanted a guest pass for $350. Cant you take a guest in for free on same flight?

I believe it gives you an additional guest. I.E. youโ€™d be allowed 2 guest.

For domestic lounges, your guest doesn't even have to be traveling

same flight

From our experiences regularly visiting Hobart , any discount on Qantas Club membership not really worthwhile because of the irregular hours kept by the lounge there !
Don't even bother trying to enter unless there is a QF metal flight departing within the next 60 minutes - because it will closed.
I was flying HBA to MEL late february and the queue waiting to enter the Qlounge was longer than the one for the departing Jetstar flight in the adjacent holding area !

Might be a silly Q, but I have 1 year and a bit remaining on my QC membership, is there any 'time' restriction on the renewal i.e. does your QC membership need to be expiring soon? Couldn't see anything about it in the literature. Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚

For what it's worth, I'm PCP - but also Gold, and was also a paying Qantas Club member before I had both of those. Had no problems paying for a 1 year renewal just now at the discounted rate. I'm sure it'll come in handy... in 2027, at the earliest. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Just keep good records to prove it when you inevitably have to rogue the toss in 2027!
