The value of Qantas points depends on how you spend them. For example, when redeeming points for gift cards, you could expect to get approximately $500 worth of value from 100,000 Qantas points. Or if you used your points for Classic Plus reward flights, you’d get between $1,000-$1,500 in value from those points.

You can often get even more value when redeeming points for Classic Flight Rewards or upgrades. These are generally the two best value ways to redeem Qantas points.

One-way Qantas Business Class to South Africa

You could book a one-way Business Class seat on this flight for just 94,900 Qantas points and $272 in taxes & carrier charges!

100,000 Qantas points would also be more than enough to upgrade to First Class in both directions on a paid round-trip Qantas Business Class ticket from Sydney to Johannesburg. However, note that upgrades on Qantas international flights are never guaranteed in advance.

Return Business Class to Fiji

Fiji Airways is one of Qantas’ many partner airlines. For 83,000 Qantas Points, plus around $286 in taxes, you could book a return Business Class flight from Sydney to Nadi flying Fiji Airways! For the same amount of points, you could also fly direct to Fiji from Brisbane or Canberra.

To maximise the experience, try to book one of the Airbus A350 flights between Sydney and Nadi. On this aircraft, Business passengers get a super comfortable lie-flat bed.

6 round-trip Qantas domestic Economy flights

It costs 8,000 Qantas points, plus taxes & carrier charges, to book a one-way Qantas flight on routes up to 600 miles. This covers routes such as Sydney-Melbourne, Sydney-Brisbane, Melbourne-Adelaide, Brisbane-Mackay, Canberra-Brisbane, Melbourne-Hobart and Sydney-Launceston.

100,000 Qantas points would be enough to book six round-trip Qantas Economy Class trips on any of these routes!

5 one-way Qantas domestic Business Class flights

A one-way Qantas Business Class flight on routes up to 600 miles, including all of the routes listed above, costs 18,400 Qantas points (plus taxes & carrier charges). So, 100,000 Qantas points would be enough for five short Business Class flights.

Up to 18 Qantas Business Class upgrades

To upgrade from a Qantas Economy Red e-Deal fare on routes like Sydney-Melbourne, you’d need to spend 10,900 Qantas points. So, 100,000 Qantas points would stretch as far as nine upgrades from Red e-Deal tickets.

Alternatively, upgrading from Qantas Economy Flex fares to Business costs only 5,400 points. So you could even upgrade 18 times from Economy Flex to Business Class.

15 one-way Jetstar flights

When you use Qantas points to fly Jetstar, including Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Japan, you pay around 20% fewer points than you would to fly on a Qantas aircraft. So, it costs just 6,400 Qantas points (plus taxes & charges) to fly Jetstar on shorter routes such as Melbourne-Sydney, Auckland-Christchurch, Singapore-Kuala Lumpur or Tokyo-Osaka.

So, with 100,000 Qantas points, you could book as many as 15 one-way Jetstar flights.

When booking Qantas Classic Reward tickets in Jetstar Economy Class, you’ll receive a complimentary 20kg baggage allowance but no food or entertainment on board.

Emirates First Class to New Zealand

For just 64,500 Qantas points (plus around $196 in taxes & carrier charges), you could fly Emirates First Class one-way from Sydney to Christchurch.

Emirates operates daily Airbus A380 flights on this route. On this aircraft, Emirates First Class passengers can even use the on-board shower, as well as the bar!

You’re not far off booking a round-the-world trip

There are lots of ways to earn Qantas points, including flying and shopping with Qantas Frequent Flyer program partners such as Woolworths or BP.
