How do you pronounce your airplanes ? 7-4-7 or 7-47?

Watching a (US) video blog about the 747 the other day, and noticed the pronunciation of the aircraft as 7-47, I always call it a 7-4-7. Which is more common?

Also noticed I say 7-7-7 whereas it seems quite common to say triple-7 (and never heard 7-77) (actually I lie, I'm more likely to say 7-7-W or 7-7-2 or 7-7-3 but that's a bit too geeky )

It seems more clear cut over in Airbus land - universally 3-80, 3-20, 3-50 etc.

I guess it also goes for flights. I never catch flight SQ 2-27 from SIN-MEL, but often catch flight SQ 2-2-7. Yet if I was going MEL-LAX I might be on QF 93 and definitely not QF 9-3....

am with you on most of this - but I do say "triple 7"

Now that's also getting a bit geeky. For some reason with airbus, I just say 3-30 (maybe because my usual airline only as one type) and then if necessary so "the 200" or "the 300" .

Boeing always been 7-4-7, 7-6-7, 7-3-7, 7-5-7, 7-8-7.

Airbus is mixed bag. A-3-80, A-3-30, A-3-3-3, A-3-3-2, A-3-20, A-3-2-1, A-3-1-9 etc.

Embraer E-1-70, E-1-80.

M-D-80, B-A-E-1-4-6, C-R-J-47, A-T-R-19 etc.

My experience is that it varies depending upon who is saying it and in what context.
Airbus are normally just 320, 330, 340 etc with the A dropped off.
Boeing similar but with odd variations. Often called 72, 73 (sometimes with the series added. i.e. 734 or 738. 747 200/300 are called the classic and the 400 is simply referred to as the 400.
