Jetstar JQ4 - Business Class, Honolulu - Sydney

Afternoon, I recently booked two tickets on Qantas FF Awards for 2 x Jetstar Business Class seats from Honolulu to Sydney, JQ4, next May. One way as we are cruising to Honolulu.

*** Any of you FF's out there travelled on this flight JQ4 ? What can we expect with Jetstar Business, never been with them before. Meals/Service etc? Some reviews say the Jetstar Dreamliner business seats are like Premium Economy on superior airlines. Only seats available were 3E and 3F, limited seating in business cabin.

When travelling one way ex the USA in scenarios such as yours it's worth comparing the award ticket with a paid airfare as the co-payment on award flights can sometime be over the top.

It is exactly as you suggest, a premium economy product. It is pretty much the same experience, all round, as flying qantas domestic business class. Pretty much the same seat, the same style of meal delivery (all on one tray etc).

The differences are that you get champagne on JQ, and you’ll get an amenity kit.

The only really good seats are those in row 1. For other rows... as the recline is very generous, once the person in front puts their seat back it is impossible to get out to the aisle if you are one seat away. Your seat mate will have to stand to allow you egress.

Service is usually pretty top notch on JQ business. But it’s like being in a domestic business class seat for 11 hours. It is what it is.

I would keep an eye out for award seats on the qantas operated flights, and change if the become available. It will be a small change fee penalty of 5000 points.

It's very unlikely that Qantas will released J award seats on QF4.

Otherwise, I agree with all of your comments. It's basically a good premium economy product with decent catering. I don't mind it for a day flight, but probably wouldn't fly JQ J again overnight (if there is an option).

I thought with the up-guage to the 747 that i read some premium seats were available (both business and premium economy)? Although that may have been for a limited time.

The 747 will be taken off the route in April. When the 747 goes, so does all of the J/PE award availability.
