Economy Seat Selection on QF International as OW Ruby?

I just purchased 4 really cheap fares for DFW-SYD r/t. I'm about to be AA gold / OW ruby. What are the seat selection benefits like for my family and I (all on the same reservation)? Any recognition of status, or ability to choose better seats? At booking or at a certain point in time?

It's hard to tell from the QF website what benefits I WILL have, rather than the none I have now. Thanks!

No free personal seat selection on AA Basic Economy fares, not even for Emerald (WP/EXP).

If you don't pay for a seat from t-48 hours (IIRC) then they will select a seat for you on check-in from what may be left.

Seems the OP is referring to QF7/QF8 - see later posts.

Once you qualify as Gold/Oneworld Ruby, you should have access to seat selection even on sale (vs saver) fares as per Flight Seat Selection | Qantas although may require a phone call.

Exit row seats will cost you extra, and not all forward seats will be available (Sapphire, Emerald will see more).

Unfortunately AA Basic Economy fares do not allow advance seat selection for anyone. However elites do get their normal oneworld bag allowance.

I am assuming the OP is referencing purchasing flights on QF7/8 as this is in the QFF section. OWR provides free seat selection in Y on QF, however the selection is limited. This doesn't include extra leg room seats though.

Yes, could well be. The use of "Basic Economy" in the subject though suggests something else.. though my initial thought was surprise that AA may sell Basic Y fares to/from SYD, but I suppose it's possible. I think they sell them on trans-atlantic sectors.

AA: no seat selection. QF: free seat selection in what is available to your status level.

Yes I meant flying on QF on QF ticket. I used the basic economy term to mean a really cheap economy ticket.
