Any intel on: Geoff Merrill Pimpala Vineyard Shiraz 2015 $150 for a sixer, Vivino seems to like it....

It's been around a while, first offered as #31915 in August 2019, later at $19.90 in a full dozen #32471 and periodically as a Black Market wine since then, now unmasked. Didn't get much interest on my Forum, no drinking reports either.

No reviews on any of the main sources either. Website only states sold out and single small batch. Cheers

I grabbed six last year (Black Market Deal) very good value at $25 per bottle. None left, if that is any indication! Drinks very well, great balance and still with plenty of fruit. It isn't a massive McLaren Vale Shiraz, more refined. I'll be in for another 6. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the info RWB, I'm a fan of heavier reds and whilst I'm not averse to more refined shirazes it might not be quite what I'm looking for...

Given that the Pinot Noir 2018 - Black Market Deal #35662 Red Wine pack of 6 "...has been matured in handmade Florentine terracotta amphorae" I'm expecting it has to be the Trofeo Estate Amphora Pinot Noir. I see the 2016 was discussed a little here but I can't find any reviews of the current vintage. Using PLUS15FB it's under $100 for a six pack so I'll probably give it a go, but has anyone tried it?

I have had a bit of Trofeo at cellar door & in their restaurant. Was last there a month ago so the wines would have been current vintage (don't have my notes here).

The Pinot at around $20 in that link is worthwhile. It's easy drinking clean wine. There aren't many (any?) really good RRP $20 Pinots so if you can find a reasonable one on discount at that price it's worthwhile IMO.

I had some Trofeo Pinot cellared for a couple of years a while back and it didn't respond to cellaring at all. Went a bit flat if anything. I just presumed that was due to the Amphora as opposed to oak treatment but that's an uneducated guess.
