For those of you who ordered the esim, how long did it take from you purchasing to it arriving? (I assume it's emailed? Nothing arrives in the mail, right?)
Placed online order last night. Received a temporary order number via email shortly after. Then received a call tonight to confirm my ID and order. I asked for eSIM on new number so I can keep my Aldi sim on Telstra going for calls and coverage. Initially the Optus representative told me he would have to dispatch a physical sim first and then once I receive it I could request it be converted to an eSIM. I questioned this saying others had received an immediate SMS with instructions on how to activate the eSIM. He told me that was only for customers porting their number. Anyway he put me on hold and then came back after 5 minutes saying he could in fact issue an eSIM. Activated eSIM after the call with ease on my iPhone 13.
Have instructed the phone to use Aldi sim for everything except data. All data is to be routed via Optus sim. Once activated, I disabled wifi and checked 5G coverage. It defaulted to 3G and recorded a download speed of 3Mbps. Pretty shocking seeing as I live about 500m line of sight from an Optus mast. Optus website reports that I live in an area of excellent 5G coverage.

My order got approved around 1140am today, but I am not sure if i will receive the physical sim before the weekend. (Still have not received the tracking number, and my phone, the Samsung S20 FE is not e sim compatible)
Is the physical sim already activated when it is sent out ?

The esim has to be activated by downloading some app or something… I just sent the whole email to a friend and they installed it on their phone for the data!

I placed my order on Tues at 11.30am. I received the SIM card this afternoon at 2.pm in Canberra. I've just loaded it into my phone and set it up for data, and waiting for the activation to come through. Fingers crossed yours will come through in time.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I placed my order yesterday at 430pm. And i live in Melbourne. So, hopefully it will arrive tomorrow. Otherwise i will have to call up Optus and see if i will still get the 60k points.
Ordered online last night around 9pm. By noon today I had an email and text to say my account was set up and link to access eSIM which I successfully loaded on to iPhone SE alongside a physical Woolies Mobile (Telstra) service. Phone prompted me to nominate which service to set as primary and secondary for calls/texts and separately for data. All straight forward for me. We’ll see when the points land and how easy it is to cancel!

And the SIM was activated within an hour - with 4G signal. Optus 5G doesn't extend as far as our place on the outskirts of Canberra. I"ll see how it goes when I"m in 5G range.
Hopefully this works, I didn't realise that the service had to be activated by the 17th before reading through this thread and only ordered it now.
Unlikely to be delivered tomorrow so I'm taking a risk here...

A bit late to the party but it's been a busy time. Signed up purely to get the 60K points.
Existing Optus customer so I requested a new number & eSim and will add it to iPhone and use it for data I guess before cancelling after the points arrive. Notice that the promo end date is this Sunday so hopefully the eSim is sorted before then.
One thing I was interested to see reading this thread was the option to add International Roaming Pack.
Probably a stupid question but am I right in assuming I will keep my number on the Telstra network up until the point that insert and activate the new Optus sim? Thinking I might wait until the last day (Sunday) to actually activate it. Your mobile number will leave the Telstra network as soon...

Looks to be quite a "generous" pack compared to the one I added just a few weeks ago in BKK to my regular Optus service, which was $10/day for 1GB data.
Presume this can be added "in-app" after the new Promo services is active? Would be useful for my USA trip in a few weeks.
As did I for both of the ones I purchased. Now for the wait for a few early adopters to test out the timing of the points arrival and subsequent cancellation.

Does anyone know if the Optus business plan with included intl roaming still exists? I remember reading about it a few months ago but can’t seem to find anything.
I had intended to ditch Optus but with Vodafone being virtually useless in my suburb (a whole 3km from the CBD ) I might stick with Optus for their new $5 roaming. Not as easy as Voda, but still a better option overall.
husband is traveling around the US with Optus roaming. Roaming partner is Tmobile. He was only getting edge and 3G.
It was unusable so he signed up with mint mobile, who's also on tmobile network, and got 4g straight away. Guessing Optus only paid for cough roaming.
