I'll be interested in their experiences. When I retire in a few years I'm looking at retiring my old BMW (now 20 yo) and getting an EV like the Atto, to compliment MrsK's Honda Jazz, which is only a couple of years old. That should set us up for our later years.

I was reading a post on another forum, an ST Focus went in for service and came back over filled like above and with a nasty engine noise, video with sound of it was put in the post. Common consensus was that the engine had been run without oil after being drained, then was overfilled!

Was not the Stealer service dept

I’ll have to check forums to see if this amount of overfill is problematic. I’m guessing not

My Volvo diesel throws an engine light if the full level is exceeded by 200ml. I have had to correct it twice after servicing.

I once had a Hilux serviced, and it came back with the drain plug not properly done up. Thankfully, I noticed the oil was leaking before it was able to undo itself entirely. Complained to Toyota and their response was that all of the dealers are just franchises, so not their problem. Moved to different brand. Whilst the others might be just as bad, I'm not going to reward known bad behaviour.

My next door neighbour is also my mechanic - has been for about 12 years. I trust him and he has always done a good job, and is qualified to perform log-book servicing without limitation to manufacturer's warranties. He always shows me parts that are replaced, showing me why they needed replacement. And he knows that if anything goes wrong with any of our vehicles, he is the one who receives the phone call or knock on the door to sort it out.

He has told me several horror stories of vehicles that had been serviced by manufacturer dealers under their fixed-price servicing programs. He has seen many that have not have filters replaced (engine and cabin air filters, fuel filters etc.), which may not cause an immediate impact on a new(ish) vehicle, but after 3-5 years of servicing without changing these filters regularly, the life of the engine/vehicle will be impacted. Of course the dealer is saving the cost of the filter and labour to change it in order to make a profit out of the fixed-price (or included cost) of the servicing.

My neighbour mechanic suggests if sending your vehicle to a dealer for servicing, put an identifying mark on the engine air filter and cabin air filter and check to see if they have actually been changed if the service manual calls for them to be changed at a particular service interval.

But you will know and will then be in a position to make an informed decision about your next service.

Also might be worth taking a geo-located, time-stamped photo of the marking before sending for service.

Wow, when you hear of motorsport deaths at this time of the year, one automatically thinks of Dakar (although it is that in name only these days), so I'm shocked to learn that it was Ken Block!
Considering some of the stunts he has done over the years, and the precision driving required, a snowmobile accident.
He was an incredibly gifted driver, people said he was a showoff, but he did have skill and he always made sure he had lots of fun, was easy to talk to and very approachable, talked with him in NZ a few years ago, great guy, deeply saddened by this news, condolences to all his family and friends.

They have 364 days to notify you in writing of the fine according to EU law. Outside that they are "Whistling Dixie!"

I had a ZTL violation in Italy some years back and the notification did not arrive until 380 days so I told them to go away. Lawyers send "encouring letters" so I quoted them the EU law and told them stop pestering us.

Look up the EU law if interested. (might have changed by now but probably not.)
