@Melburnian1 Not sure if you have more information, but I am seeing CX138 (08/01) Sydney departure on B-KQI still in sydney, i saw them on flightradar24 at push back at just close to 2300 but still stuck in sydney... i wonder is it tech that caused them to miss curfew or weather related events...

Update... departed almost 24 hrs later - @ 2140 (09/01) and arrive at 0305 on 10/01 HKT

Tuesday 10 January 2023 has CX100, the 1515 hours mid afternoon scheduled SYD-HKG with A35X B-LXN not in the sky until almost evening meal time at 1824. Arrival is estimated as bang on Cindarella time, 155 minutes late. The aircraft had arrived in SYD six minutes early at 1154 hours, so something must have subsequently gone awry.

Hey this is the 2nd major delay on CX Sydney routing… one is the 24 hr delay on the CX138, then this… it’s odd… the 138 on 08/01 delay is odd too as that inbound CX139 also arrived early into Sydney that night

Unless it's the same aircraft, probably unlikely to be any connectio, as staff will have had minimum rest in Sydney even if they normally get 30 oir 36 hours.

Perhaps CX could explain why they are having so many tech problems with their aircrafts lately - ALL are different aircraft which suffer this extended delay!

Is it possible it's 'lack of qualified running staff' to use a railway expression, because so many pilots/FOs and so on have left HKG, some because there was no work for ages with CX and perhaps a few because they don't like the 'takeover' by communist China and the repressive resultant atmosphere?

Could be but these are outport failures… sounds like something more technical than anything human… I wonder what maintenance is done to ensure the breakdown rate is reduced at outport

Make this 4 days in a row… it’s the CX110 today - it’s B-LXF, departed 1327 instead of 0850, now arriving at 1854 instead of 1505

Also can NOT blame delay in the inbound, this aircraft was in Sydney since 08/01!!!

Sitting on CX178. Rejected take off. Indication of cargo door open. Went off the runway, doors checked, no issues found.
Still sitting in a bay at MEL, almost 2 hours after push back.

Ground crew just told to leave. Looks like we are going again.

Have more then likely missed my connection to HND though

Very good that you knew the cause. Irrespective of mode, it's peeving when there's a delay but patrons receive no explanation, or one that lies as to the facts.

CX178, the 2350 hours MEL-HKG (B773ER B-KPU) took off at 0159 so God must have answered passengers' prayers.

HKG arrival was at 0846 hours, 111 minutes late, not long ago.

CX548 (B-KPI, the 0845 hours HKG-HND also on Saturday 10 June) took off at 0906 hours so unfortunately Himeno was correct to suggest she'd miss her connection. CX542 at 1620 hours HKG time is the next flight, with JL and NH flights to HND only an hour or so ahead, so poor Himeno may have the sort of annoying wait where one can if eligible (as she'll be) relax in the lounge, but it's generally too short an enforced intermediate stop for the airline to give a traveller an hotel.

CX520 at 1030 hours from HKG (but to NRT) is an alternative connection but the travelling time on rail from NRT to the centre of Tokyo may rule that out. Friends who travelled business class recently into NRT did not experience immigration delays but numerous reports of others waiting for two to five hours to be processed abound. Are latter passengers only in economy class?

Rejected take off

A rejected take off especially a high energy one means cannot take off without checks being done.
However CX178 was a low energy RTO, it only got up to 33 kts - so was a low energy one, and was able to take the first exit off the runway

And hooray for no Curfew at MEL

Not surprising, because with the change to total control by mainland communist China, HKG itself has become (sadly) a less attractive destination.

CX must be relying more on connecting passengers.

Last time I entered at NRT (from JL61), it took about 20 mins to get land side, but I didn't leave the airport that time.

The longest I remember it taking at NRT was around 90 mins to get to baggage claim, before QF moved the SYD flight to HND, just after JP started the US VISIT style process.

A35X B-LXR on CX101, the 2355 hours HKG-SYD on Tuesday 13 June 2023 took off at 0121 hours so on Wednesday 14, arrival is expected at gate at 1143 hours, 53 late. As this aircraft should form the 1415 hours CX100 back to HKG, in theory that ought not be late due to the ample turnaround allowed in the timings.
