There is a facebook page for Ford Ranger owners. There are interesting questions about some aspect of vehicle function. A lot of them could not be bothered to read the manual and just ask the question on FB. m assuming they can read as FB is a reading medium.
Mostly these are blokes who buy such vehicles and are invariably not happy with it and will juice it up to look more Mad Max. They also think that they are smarter than the design engineers and will remap the engines and transmissions, even cut the chassis to make it longer and also modify the suspension to make it carry more.

I think you can get your browser to read out text, it make sense for Ranga owners otherwise they’d be scrood, they can’t read.

Although to be phair, the design engineers would’ve been worried about warranty claims uber alles. Modding to carry moar prolly makes some sort of sense, if you don’t care about warranty & the thing falling apart. On the flipside, mustard mitte I’m trying to think like a meth addict (ie. Ranga operator) so mebbe got it wrong.

especially when these blokes say that stiffening the suspension = better ride quality 🤣. I asked one about speed bumps and stiff suspension. He said it's smoother if you increase the speed when you go over one🤔
 
..... customers who don't use technology as it is designed to be used. For instance, the dance/charade the customers do when trying to use their FaceID on iPhones to make payment ...

1. Bringing the iPhone to the card reader without doing the FaceID thingy and blaming that the payment hasn't gone thru because your machine is faulty ... Hello!! you need to *successfully* scan your faceID before the payment can be completed ...

2. Taking the phone away before the card reader could read the card and take the money - and then getting frustrated when I say the payment hasn't gone thru and to try again ...

3. Not giving enough time for the iPhone to *successfully* scan their face and then blaming that technology doesn't work ... Not noticing that iPhones ask for passcode if FaceID is not successful and not remembering their passcode, in some instances ...

4. Wearing a face mask and trying to do FaceID (assuming here that they have not configured their FaceID to work with a mask)

...... customers who are not ready to do the payment when they approach the registers, causing a massive pile up ... then complain that they are late for their flight as final call is issued ...

..... customers who just walk away after tapping their phones on the card reader - not waiting to see if the payment has gone thru .. had to chase a few customers to tell them that the payment is not successful and then they get frustrated ...

Card reader machines. They all have a different place to tap. Front. Top. Side and never obvious which it is. Sales people getting frustrated with people not knowing which on first try 😉

Absolutely agree with you. The first time is frustrating for us to - because there could be different machines in the same shop.

The machines are designed differently - which is why, I say "that will be 22.99, just tap on the top please, when you are ready" and then the customers go and tap on the side ... or tap on the screen ...

Guess it's just one of those things that will happen regardless ...

Local IGA has scan area at the top rear, angled back. The unit is jammed between a couple of other things and the monitor overhanging, so you have to hold a card with a couple of fingers and sort of slide it in to reach the reader; if a watch (what I use) you have to drag the machine out, with cord to be able to get near scan surface. 🤷‍♂️
 
... in a similar vein, modern recipes and instructions on packaged products that specify measurements in not just teaspoons and tablespoons but tsp and tblsp

Was working on an engineering (treatment plant construction) project in Canada and the specs were mostly in imperial - because most of the components were to be sourced from the USA :rolleyes: Air flow derivative - cubic feet per minute per square foot ? Dam volume - acre-feet?

To be phair, a tablespoon & a teaspoon are pretty simple, as are a foot and an inch.
Even a mile is pretty easy to convert to proper measurements.
Acres though? I mean, WTF, who has a clue what an acre is? 200 standard unicorn-horn lengths squared or some-such?

But we didn't convert them. Drawings were in imperial because girders, cladding, pipes, air filtration units all came from USA .
