We are looking to book to Antarctica in Jan 2025 and particularly intending to do a cruise from NZ to Ross Sea.

We did do some monitoring this year and ended up in a discussion with someone offloading some cabins at a last minute deal. Also wondering if this is a good option as we do have baby-boomer work flexibility to be available at short notice. In the end we were having to pay a third party and it seemed too risky for the saving which wasn't that significant.

What are your tips on getting the best deal on what is the same cabin?

yes, all sell the same cruise. limited options going to this part of the continent.

if you can get over the price then it's only the southern ocean to deal with

I actually enjoy big weather on a cruise ship.. safe and sound and warm and comfy and it is not my problem..….but some of the true marine heroes have sailed small yachts through stuff like that and survived.

Def my kind of weather... would LOVE to experience on a large ship... last time in huge seas was 1998 SYD-HOB on a 38ft yacht

We returned to NZ after our Ross Sea expedition (started from Hobart). The seas from Hobart to the RS were very calm but worsened a tad on the way back to Christchurch from the Bay of Whales. The seas were BIG and the ship we were on was 196m and 43000t. I see Heritage Adventurer is 124m and 8400t. You would feel the seas just a bit more on HA.

I travelled to the Ross Sea with Heritage Expeditions in 2015, but it was in the Spirit of Enderby, which I don't think they use anymore.
It was a long trip, with quite a few sea days, but broken up somewhat by landings at the sub-Antarctic islands.
It's a different trip to the peninsula side, from South America, but visiting the explorers' huts and experiencing the vastness of the region is amazing!
I suggest contacting Heritage directly and having a chat with them.
