Passport damage

Hi All I am new here. I have a question that I hope someone can assist with. I am leaving Perth tomorrow on a holiday and I stupidly put my passport and itinerary on the kitchen table my 8 year old son has done dot to dot on my passport perforated number I caught him at one page but it's the page closest to the data page. Will I be able to use my passport? Or am I up ship Creek? I am full freaking out. It's not super bad looking but it's marked. Am I aloud to post a pic ? Sorry for all the questions I don't travel much.

You should replace your passport if it has more than reasonable wear and tear. Even minor passport damage can stop you from travelling. Damage that might require you to replace your passport includes water damage, unofficial markings on the data page, missing visa pages or tears.
It's important that:

• there are no tears or cuts in the pages, especially the photo page
• everything on the photo page is legible and clear
• there are no marks across your photo or in the Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) at the bottom of the photo page
• no pages have been removed
• there is no alteration or tampering.

I have read that online. I will call the number tomorrow morning before i fly and ask the question. Not really much I can do now I guess. Can't get a passport in 24hours that's for sure.

If you are flying to Bali/Indonesia it might be a problem.

Thanks yeah bloody kids hahaha. I don't have time to sort anything so hopefully they accept it otherwise it's no surf holiday for me. I will make a call tomorrow to see if anything can be done but I guess it will be what it will be.

You're going to Indonesia, right? Please confirm your destination so we can help you best.

The passport hotline for Australia probably can't tell you for sure whether Indonesia, or whatever specific other country, will accept your passport or not, especially without seeing the damage themselves. They can only provide general advice I'd guess.

Is the page that's been marked up one that already has stamps or visa labels etc? In that case they will probably just flip to the next free page and maybe won't notice the marks. I think your changes are good as long as the photo page is still pristine, but I don't have personal experience with this, and you have to consider the risk if you are refused entry.

The problem is that if you're refused entry, and are sent back on the next flight, that may affect your chances to go to that country at all in the future. If you're concerned about this, the safest course of action would be to postpone your trip until you can get the passport replaced, which you can do in about a week with an expedite fee.

Got into Indonesia no questions asked I will still replace once I return but no drama thank goodness . I must admit I was a little nervous but got a very friendly custom officer in Medan.
