edit: I just checked the timetable :idea: I land at 8:30 if the QF501 group want to wait for a D sticker. Not going to feel subbed if you don't.

So I didn't make it onto JQ35, but I am on a (Qantas) flight out of T1 tomorrow afternoon so I'll see you all there whenever I feel like heading into the airport

Check in opens at 11am. It pays to be in line about 15 minutes beforehand. I'll PM my mobile, send an SMS when you get there and someone can meet you at the desk to guest in. (I assume that'll work). So go in the entry (there's a person at the entry) and up the escalator to the reception desk.

My flight arrives into SYD T3 at 10:55 so can guest you in if Medhead's suggested MO doesn't work. I'll also PM you my number.

Myself, BundyBear & Anat0l all managed OLCI for QF8 & JQ35 which surprised me because I thought having a JQ flight in the same QF pnr might stuff up OLCI for QF8 but it didn't. The added bonus was being able to physically print out an OLCI boarding pass for JQ35 which saves the hassle of finding a JQ checkin person willing to do the reprint exercise.

When you OLCI both flights are displayed & the boxes both have ticks in them (I don't know why you'd want to deselect either flight however the option is there) then when you proceed to the next screen it displays the seat numbers on each flight, although for JQ35 there is no option to change the seat as you're stuck with what you've got for the time being unless you're able to seat change at the airport.

It's kind of ironic that if you make a booking via the JQ website & try to checkin online you only get the "this is not a boarding pass thing" but if you book through the QF website in conjunction with a QF flight, it will print out the actual boarding pass.

Having two connecting international flights travelling within Australia ... the orange 'D' sticker on 2nd boarding pass only which should get stamped in BNE to be handed in at MEL. We will make sure we get JQ to reprint our boarding passes so it will scan at the boarding gate in SYD as a QF issued OLCI won't cut it there. The main thing is we've got what we need to get us through customs in SYD with minimal fuss.

The only thing that remains to be seen is whether the JQ Starter fare SYD/MEL will count as an eligible flight in order for my ff status to upgrade from NB to SG (I've done the 700SC). I realise I won't get ff points or SC for the JQ35 sector however it's still a paid fare not a Classic Award so time will tell.

Yeah it's surprising how things have changed, but good news (for the future) if JQ35 on a QF booking can be OLCI'd in.

I don't think you'll get the magic squiggle for your fare, unless it credits wrongly (and for example, my "starter" fare is showing in the system as a "plus" fare, so it is possible). Generally the magic squiggles only appear next to a QF/JQ flight that has > 0 SC listed for the earn, even if the flight appears in your FF statement.

The QF booking BP printing makes it worthwhile to book with QF now, rather than price match. This did not happen in October last year.

Hmm I had both on the 1 PNR and I could check in an get BP's for both.. I was just going to get a reprint in MEL tomorrow morning.. I reckon I'm going to be as tired as you as I've only just left the tennis now, and still have to get home, shower, snooze and get up and head to MEL!!

Inconsistency. Hard to believe!

Well, things have got worse.

The JQ service desk at PER was unable to help so I'm in the lounge and tried checking-in on the JQ website. Epic fail: "Web Check-in is not available for your booking. Please proceed to a Jetstar Check-in Desk at the airport.

Contigency plan is as follows:

1. Try the QF T3 international transfer desk.
2. Try the QF T3 J lounge.
3. Try the QF T2 lounge.
4. Try the QF T1 First lounge check-in.
5. Try the JQ T1 check-in desk for any flight.
6. Try the JQ T1 service desk.
7. Spend $8 a pop on lattes at T1 Starbucks and fume away ~ four hours as a very, very unhappy man!
