RAC WA Wish gift cards now in store

Finally took the plunge and bought 1K worth of WISH cards though Ambassador Club website as Mrs Nick is a member of the FSU

Great getting the discount but there is some downside, a 5 dollar cost to send the cards out registered mail and the fact that I can only use MCARD or VISA thereby robbing myself of 500 QFF points because I only have 1:1 cards rather than the AMEX 1.5:1.

Still a good deal but maybe only a 3% saving in the end

Walk up to shop front is really the only way I buy these cards, if I had to order online and wait then I don't think I would. Since my QEDRCC has rolled over to a new billing cycle, its time to pick up another 2k this morning...

Adelaide people have the RAA shop front, walk in, walk out...nice & easy.....think some other associations now offer this which is good

I guess that part doesn't really worry me so will probably keep doing it. In saying that, two of my kids have recently moved overseas, from filling up weekly we are almost now monthly, I seem to be getting most of my wine on line and meat and vegies at the local shops so not spending nearly as much as WOW anymore. 1K a month would be about it now

I just got an email from RACV advising that Woolworths Wish Gift Cards could now be purchased through RACV, at a 5% discount.
This can either be online through the Show and Save part of their website, or over the counter at some 20 RACV shops.
Credit cards can be used for online purchase, and presumably at shops. Not sure which cards can be used, but one would assume at least Visa and Mastercard.
Should suit Victorians.

I got the RACV email as well. I don't know why RACV took so long to put the information in an email to members. The promotion started about a month ago and I've had great fun getting all my WW and Big W purchases at a 5% discount. The cards work at the WW/Caltex outlets as well as lots of other WW group stores.

Only $100 value cards at my local RAA today

How many would you like sir...? Err do you have 25 , sorry I usually get the $250 value ones...

These $100 cards pretty much only have an average life cycle of 1 day in this household

RACV instore only have the $100 cards and I think there is a limit of 10 cards per day per person. Online you can buy higher value cards but instore is more convenient for us. We juggle the shopping between WW group and Coles group so I can usually make the cards last awhile.

For the record RAA have $100 & $250 cards, there is a daily limit of purchasing $5,000 value per day

For those that buy instore at a RACV, do they take note of your member number/swipe your members card? Or do they just look at it?
I use to be a RACV member and still have my card, but since going onto a lease I use my provided car insurer (not RACV)

They ask for the card and take it over the counter. I believe that they record the number on the paperwork that they do but I can't remember whether they swipe the card. The impression that I get is that they are going to check their paperwork carefully and will eventually pick up any number/member discrepancies.

Dang, my experience with most places is that they just glance at the card. The exception was Rebel sport where they swiped the card.

It is $29 to be an affiliate member of RACWA so that would pretty much "undang" the problem.

That's really interesting. You could actually make your money back on the membership after $600 face value of Wish Cards and the rest is profit from there onwards, if I've got my figures correct. It beats paying around $65 for an Entertainment Book which offers much the same Wish card discount.

Yes markis10 got onto this for out of WA folks. It works well from what our Qld moderator has posted and yes the break even gets passed at $600 of 5% savings.

No, I didn't realise. I assumed the cheapest option would be to sign up for roadside assist which I think would be closer to about $90/year + whatever the new member fee would be (Since i'd be considered a new member ) On the bright side I'd be able to pay for that out of my novated lease account.
