Hotel required near O'Hare Chicago

I am flying into Chicago in October and flying out the next day, so I am looking at an overnight stay close to O'Hare Airport. I have carried out some research and the Hampton Inn Chicago-O'Hare International on N. Mannheim Rd., Schiller Park get great reviews, and if I book now I can get it for AUD$127 incl. taxes which considering some of the other prices does not seem too bad. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

Do you have a preference over which chain to stay with? There are plenty of hotels in that area and most chains have hotels there. Do you have a budget?

I don't know how much time you have in Chicago, but if you fly in at a reasonable time and leave at a reasonable time the following day, I would definitely suggest to go into the city for the evening and morning and stay at the IC downtown. Quite reasonably priced when booked well in advance and a great hotel and a great location. Downtown Chicago, if you havent been, its a beautiful city with plenty to see and do, great restaurants and best of all, its FLAT! so walking is a breeze and so easy! A taxi into the loop (CBD of Chicago) from ORD would be $35-$40. the subway is really easy as well, straight into town within 45mins for $2.25.
I lived in Chicago in 2012 and moving back there in March and I love it there!
If you do have this option and what ideas of must see things for your over-night, let me know and will happily suggest places to see and eat!

ps. if you do stay out at the airport, make sure the hotel has a shuttle bus back to ORD, from memory, most are a bit of a distance from the airport..

Thanks for the tips but arrive early evening from SEA via DFW then back to ORD by about 11.30am so looks like a hotel near ORD is the way to go. I may have the chance of looking around Chicago at the start of Sept as I am taking the Amtrak Empire Builder to Seattle.

There's a Hilton at the airport from memory. Had to stay there after a photoshoot for Conrad Chicago, so that we could get an early flight out - didn't want to risk any traffic problems etc. Nothing special, but it was close, comfortable and took all of 2 minutes to get to the gate from the hotel.

Thanks all. Bit the bullet and booked a room the Hampton for US$105 plus taxes, which was their advanced book rate meaning that no cancellation etc but I have to say somewhere and flying to HKG the following day. Good reviews, close to O'Hare, done.

The Hampton does, as do many others in close proximity. Although I have been the Chicago many times (mainly in transit though) the reason I went with the Hampton is the good reviews the hotel received as opposed to others in the area.

Just had a look at some last minute sites and it looks like the hotel in the airport can be had for around 150 so I think we will monitor that during the next few weeks

I arrived back from my 5 week venture last week. I flew out of Chicago to Hong Kong and even though it was a longer trip I specifically did this route to fly CX in J and having flown F with QF, there is not that much difference. CX are excellent. Anyway, as mentioned in a previous post I booked into the Hampton Inn Chicago-O'Hare International. They offer a shuttle service, which is shared with Thrifty Car Hire located next door to the hotel, albeit they drop you at the front door. The hotel for US$117.52 was very clean, the bed very comfortable and the staff helpful. The only downside is they do not have a restaurant, but several restaurants in close proximity deliver. The hotel is located just off the main freeway 90 and was a 10min shuttle ride from ORD, so no brainer.
I did some research on Tripadvisor etc, and although there were a couple of post suggesting the rooms were not clean, I found them very clean and the shower (after a long flight) was great.

Currently staying at the Holiday Inn Suites O'hare Rosemont. Good airport hotel. Would not hesitate to return.
