Q Noting that Qantss policy requires termination of anyone involved in illegal activities (like the outsourcing issue). Had this been done to those involved?

Qantas has promised to give employees $1,000 as it seeks to repair relations with staff.

The Qantas chief executive, Vanessa Hudson, said at the annual general meeting today that the payment would be made to non-executive employees “to say thank you”.

That was an initial upfront comment by the Chair sort of frequently asked questions at the start.

A more direct question was asked off the floor later and the CEO addressed in terms of that they hadn’t done any particular modelling on the impact on Qantas' performance of the QR/VA thing but noted that the industry is very competitive always. She did single out the wet lease for comment though.

question from shareholder Steven Mayne did reveal something rather interesting. All the children less than 26 years of age of board members get three complementary first class flights to London and back every year and also a bunch of Australian business class travel. Chair was asked whether that was appropriate in the current financial situation where he just said that they are desperately trying to repair the balance sheet in cash flow so they can pay dividends.

The Chair Fudged an answer saying it was more or less in line with competitor allowances and yes the company paid the FBT for these. It isa rather extraordinary perk.

No, if they did that, I wouldn’t have been let in. Mental pies were expended, though.

It would have been cruel to do the pie job on any of the board sitting up there; except for the chair and the CEO, ( and, to be fair, Doug Parkins) they all looked nervous - deer in the headlights type of thing. What was probably the most disappointing part of the meeting that I was in for, was how the Chair again intercepted questions directed through him to other board members other than the CEO (ie Sampson). Makes the particular board member look weak.

VH's claim that economy meals have improved....seriously? Particularly internationally, I haven't seen any change or improvement in the last 12 months. For posters on this forum who travel down the back, has anyone really seen any improvement?
 
From the economy meal thread, the changes have been mostly for the worse, lots of dough heavy product.

What I received on the way home from AFF Brissy on Monday was just awful
 
I flew home from LAX earlier in the week in Y....saw all three meal options for the dinner and they all didn't look very good.
