While the number of cancelled Air NZ flights due to the fuel shortage in AKL is decreasing (unless it has not properly updated its website), an incredible seven NZ flights are planned to make a 'pit stop' in BNE today to take on extra fuel:

Thursday 28 September 2017 sees NZ722, the 0740 hours MEL - AKL delayed until at least 0815 in its pushback.

UPDATE: It did not take off until 0906 hours, so arrival in AKL is estimated at 1507 this afternoon, 52 minutes tardy.

On Sunday 1 October 2017, NZ729, the 1835 hours AKL - MEL was airborne at 1930 with A320 ZK-OJN. Arrival is predicted at 2110 hours, half an hour late.

Stablemate ZK-OJM (NZ711, 1930 hours AKL - SYD that took off at 2024) is arriving at 2138 hours, 33 minutes tardy.

Sunday 7 October has NZ791 (0815 hours AKL - ADL, A320 ZK-OJE that took off at 0900 hours sharp) likely to arrive at 1124 hours, 39 minutes tardy.

On Sunday 8 October, MEL had a thunderstorm at about 1940 in the early evening. Many flights have been delayed with NZ729 (that usually overnights in MEL) ex AKL likely to arrive at 2129 hours, 49 minutes tardy. Aircraft is A320 ZK-OJD.

Friday 3 November 2017 has NZ885, the mid afternoon 1420 hours CHC - SYD that took off at 1518 (A320 ZK-OJH) looking to arrive at about 1644, 49 minutes behind the timetable.

NZ has had two international flights turn back to AKL this week, and is experiencing problems with the turbine blades on its Rolls Royce engines on its B789s.

The 'NZ Herald' suggests that flight cancellations could occur 'for weeks' given the need for unplanned maintenance and aircraft grounding.

On Tuesday 5 December, NZ99 from AKL to NRT (B789 ZK-NZE) had to turn back to AKL from the tip of NZ's North Island,

On Wednesday 6, NZ30 from AKL to EZE (B789 ZK-NZF) also returned to AKL.

NZ has 11 B789s that commenced flying between 10 July 2014 and 21 November 2017. NZE and NZF were the first two placed in revenue service.

NZ175 and NZ177 from PER to AKL are examples of NZ flights normally operated by a B789.

The article suggests NZ is endeavouring to source some replacement aircraft from other airlines. VA? SQ? Wet leasing?

There is a list of cancellations or delays for today (some of which appear to have operated - late), tomorrow and Saturday (plus one on Sunday 10 December) on the Radio NZ website including some PER and one SYD flights.

Delays on Friday 8 December range from an expected 90 to 455 minutes (the latter is seven hours 35 minutes for NZ161 from CHC to PER) for NZ61/NZ161/NZ162/NZ175.

NZ176 (redeye Saturday 9 December 1855 hours PER - AKL that took off at 2010, B789 ZK-NZG) should arrive on Sunday 10 at 0708, 68 minutes late.

NZ124 (Sunday 11 March 1150 hours MEL - AKL, B773ER ZK-OKM) was airborne at 1234. Expected arrival is 1756 hours, 31 minutes late.

Friday 16 March 2018 sees NZ123 (B773ER ZK-OKP), the 0830 hours AKL - MEL that was airborne at 0924 arriving at 1105 hours, half an hour tardy.

The AKL - ADL NZ191 is similarly late with B789 ZK-NZI likely to arrive at 1116 hours, 36 late.

On Monday 19 March 2018, NZ105 (Hi Fly Malta leased aircraft A343 9H-FOX), the 1615 hours AKL - SYD took off at 1704. Arrival is 1813 hours, 33 minutes late.

NZ175, the 1045 hours fairly lengthy AKL - PER flight that took off at 1203 with A343 9H-SUN should arrive at 1403 this afternoon,. 58 late.

Tuesday 27 March 2018 has NZ161, the 1440 hours CHC to PER that took off at 1554 hours likely to arrive at 1742 hours, 62 minutes tardy. B789 ZK-NZF is the craft.

On Thursday 29 March 2018, NZ126, the early evening B772ER ZK-OKC 1835 hours MEL - AKL was airborne at a much delayed 2229 . Good Friday arrival should be at approximately 0340 instead of 0010, not a pleasant time to arrive (although no traffic on the roads.)

NZ161 (1340 hours CHC across to PER that was airborne at 1430 hours with B789 ZK-NZD) should arrive at 1718 hours, 38 minutes past the timetable on Tuesday 10 April 2018.

As expected, SYD is busy on a Friday evening with NZ105 from AKL to SYD operated by B772ER ZK-OKC, the 1605 hours that took off at 1713 NZ time arriving at 1832, 52 late.

Monday 16 April 2018 sees NZ722, the 0840 hours morning MEL - AKL (A320 ZK-OJO) having taken off at 0949, so arrival should be at 1504, 49 late in the North island's more northerly harbour city.
