Air NZ Award Space via KrisFlyer

So MEL/SYD to AKL in J for 25k KF miles on an Air NZ dreamliner is not a bad way to get to New Zealand, if that's where you're headed.

I can see stacks of award space using the United search engine in Oct/Nov this year (we're talking availability every day kind of levels) but any attempt to book it online via KrisFlyer comes up with no results. Lots of Y, not a single J.

Is it phantom space or just an SQ glitch that can be resolved via a call?

I just tried a number of 6 day spreads SYD or MEL to many NZ ports, in Oct and Nov, on Air New Zealand, via Expert flyer.

Some hits MEL-AKL - I guess you'd say most days; nothing ex SYD. What inventory ANZ gives to SQ, I don't know.

Just reading my post again I can see there's some ambiguity. I was looking primarily at Melbourne but just referenced the fact that Sydney was in the same award band.
If other *A partners can see the inventory that's on EF then I'd be surprised if something different is available to SQ, but then it might be possible.

I think it happens, for temporary periods, more than we realise. There was a week or so not too far back where there were no UA domestic flights available for redemption in Krisflyer, as far as I could see.

I've found SYD-WLG, SYD-AKL and SYD-ZQN many times but sometimes have had to call to book. This was even better when you could get J for 17.5K miles!

SQ and lifemiles aren't seeing other Air NZ availability either. I haven't searched from any other *A websites but availability is showing on expert flyer.

Have you tried searching for NZ award space on the Aeroplan website? If it's showing as available there, then I'd be inclined to say that you should be able to book it by calling SQ.

By the way, I believe it's 28k KrisFlyer miles rather than 25k.

Going SYD to ZQN in July which is fairly high season, found a flight online via CHC, 12.5k Miles in Y (great value when street price is $450) but can't book it. When I rang them up they wanted to charge 25k which doesn't sound right? Will try the HUACA route but just wanted to check here first as to whether anyone has experience of this.

Why did they want to charge you 25,000 miles?

I've not experienced this before. HUACA sounds like the way to go - although it could be that there are other issues at play here.
