Alitalia receives offer from Quantum-Evergreen-Singapore Airlines UPDATE

Singapore Airlines and investment funds Quantum Funds and Evergreen Fund have made a joint offer for Alitalia SpA, Radiocor news agency reported, citing Luigi Pezzoni, a Milan-based accountant who represents Quantum Funds.

The chaos surrounding the auction of an Italian government stake in Alitalia grew on Thursday, as Singapore Airlines denied it was interested in buying any part of the carrier less than an hour after Alitalia said it had received an offer.

I thought it was Air France and KLM that were bidding for Alitalia. And of course the LHR slots will once again be a huge bargaining chip.

It was reported on the news yesterday that Alitalia has asked the Italian government to sell their share in Alitalia to Air France-KLM instead of the offer from Italian company Air One.
