Being retired I can now say exactly what I like.
And one thing in my experience of the States I worked in SA Health was the worst.

SA Health has been garbage for a long time and when you have a state Labor government for most of the last 20 years who loves cutting health budgets this is what you end up unfortunately

And the union led Health campaigns (Ambos) that today said they would not be putting the same pressure on the new Govt as they did the ousted one. Can't believe they admitted it. But in any event the CE of Health stopped elective surgery on his own advice and agreed he told no one in Govt because, well, he didn't. So I don't know what our future holds. Interesting that the 8000 predicted is being reported as 10,000 now because 8,000 isn't high enough.

We have just finished four weeks of fringe events and WomAdelaide. We always knew but apparently SA Health didn't, that their spike predicted for January was not the peak. It was always going to be March. And into April.

I don’t see it happening. The Premier has said he wants similarity between Australian and SA rules.
He has pretty much sent the Health experts packing and will do things his way

Let’s hope so. Restricting elective surgery for no good reason is not a great sign, and puts a lot of lives in jeopardy. It may be called elective, but it’s hardly something people want to have to do. It’s generally for a good reason.

Is that your interpretation? I hope you are correct. Without getting political because it isnt, if Labor win the Federal election then Id suggest that now in SA we would want to be consistent with that Govts directions.

No he has stated several times that he would be asking questions of the two cronies and wants uniformity between SA and Australian rules on things like masks, close contacts etc.
He has immediately abolished the Covid-ready committee and will replace it with Emergency Management Council, which will be a sub-committee of Cabinet.
He is also seeking crown lawyers to discuss ending the SOE by June 30th at latest

WA Health is reporting a total of 8,429 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 40,695 active cases in Western Australia.


To 8pm last night, there were 194 people with COVID-19 in hospital, nine in ICU.

Sadly, a male in his nineties with COVID-19 has passed away on Monday but was reported to WA Health yesterday.

I'm a bit surprised that NSW hospitalisations are not increasing much. It certainly feels busier Covid-wise this week but maybe that's just local.

Mrsandye said there were more than usual Covid ED Paeds attendances yesterday-no doubt related to the sad death

At least 20 people in the broader project teams for the program I managing at work at the moment have had covid in the past fortnight, however none have had more than 4 sick days, most only 2 (so no worse than a cold), they just WFH for remainder of the 7 day iso.

With such high vaccination rates, and omicron so far being mild for most, one would not expect to see a huge jump in hospitalisations.

Must have been unclear what I meant. When actually in the two hospitals I work at, it feels like there are more Covid patients in hospital.
Maybe it felt like that because yesterday, one of my wards was being shuffled around to make a Covid isolation area.
It's nothing like as busy as Delta or initial Omicron though.

Well the biiiiigggg C is getting closer to me.

I finally, finally know someone who has it.

Last W/E my elder son said his fiancé's BIL had it; now his fiancé has it. I, as triple-vaxxed, am quite inclined to want to get it to get 'full' immunity (go those T-cells! ). OK, age is against me, but I have no co-morbidities and colds have never ever knocked me around and I have never had the flu, that I've been conscious of. Never ever took a day's sick leave for those sorts of things in 50 years working. I'll work with the history and the odds.

I offered to go around and kiss her.

They had, this coming weekend, booked a schmick place 'down S' at Dunsborough but now can't use it. My son has offered it to PJM and me.

Their wedding is on 14 April. I think they have timed getting the lurgy perfectly.

Sadly, a female in her eighties with COVID-19 passed away on Wednesday.

Six additional historical deaths dating back to 11 March were reported to WA Health yesterday. They comprise of a female in her fifties, a male in his forties, two males in their sixties, a male in his seventies and a male in his nineties.

Quite a few changes today in SA

1) Effective immediately: Quarantine period for household COVID contacts in SA goes down from 14 to seven days – effectively immediately.

2) Effective from midnight tonight:

– Person who has had COVID can now only be considered a close contact after 12 weeks – up from eight.

– Definition of close personal interaction goes from 15 minutes to four hours.

– Masks at Adelaide Oval required indoors only.

Mr Malinauskas says the change to isolation rules “brings us in line with the rest of the nation”.

He also said he is working towards removing general mask mandates by 14 April – “all being well”. Still required in certain high-risk settings

It's the first time that they've used the words 'incidental positives' on admission to hospital and out of the 157 cases in hospital with covid about 100 of them are in hospital for other reasons eg broken bones etc
