Yes, they are. However we still have parents walking through the door (which has a picture sign advising to wear a mask on entry) asking if they have to! We are not giving masks away any more either due to the numbers. (Donation to Children's Hospital charity per mask.)

You only have to wait 12 weeks (3 months) from testing covid positive to be allowed a booster - I have the date marked on my calendar.

Because some people are wearing totally pointless single use surgical and home made cloth masks (that achieve nothing) while others aren’t? Hate to say it, but it’s the mask brigade who are politicising.

I’m all for logical, practical and useful measures. I’m just yet to see any in practice.

Wearing a mask is one of the simplest things we are required to do in life. It is really easy and it can help to stop spread of any airborne virus.

No one is saying use of masks is foolproof but used with other measures it can help. That is a logical step as opposed to walking around without any protection which is totally illogical.

Hard to social distance when receiving a needle isn't it??

@N860CR surely cloth masks give a little protection....I mean I wash mine regularly & even spray it with some commercial (zoono) product.
I'm really just interested how long I can go without catching covidski.

Not required in NSW in pharmacies, though for the 'treatment room' I'd be surprised if the many/majority didn't ask for one to be worn

In twenty years time will the furore over 'wearing masks' be consigned to the same bin as the furore that existed when seatbelts were made compulsory for new vehicles? Or to a lesser extent 'indicators' were going to make drivers look down & crash instead of looking straight ahead to see the arm signals...

The campaign against the introduction of selt belts was very strong in a pre-internet, pre-mobile phone time.

Articles about how selt belts would 'strangle those unfortunate enough to be shorter than the height they are fitted to serve' etc.

Not in Tas, which shocks me a bit. In my local pharmac_, one or two of the staff wearing, but none but one of the pharmacists dispensing.

Masks are mandated in all health settings and public and private hire transport in SA. But not enforced it seems. The acting Premier admitted the other day there weren't enough police personnel to enforce any mandates now. They can't extend mandates now to general use because that requires a new Emergency Declaration and I think the Police Commissioner would go awol and the new Govt does not want to be in any way associated with the ousted Govt's edicts.

I would have made @JohnK happy to day as I wore a mask from the time I entered my GP's rooms and kept it on from there for my venesection,filling up the car and my Coles shop. It came off only when I got back in the c ar outside coles.
Why did i do it because I obviously have a respiratory virus an didn't want to spread it. The only reason I have now to voluntarily wear a mask.

I dont believe the pandemic is over, I am double vaxxed and double recovered, certainly some long term after effects.

I still am firmly against how the country was shut down and told I cant visit my family in the uk without special leave granted by the government with a suitable excuse.

I really don’t know where you get this info from.
There is no shortage or rationing of PPE in public hospitals in NSW.
How on earth would anyone know how many masks someone is using on a shift ?

We have plentiful supplies of N95 and surgical masks. Nobody has been told up to 2 masks per shift.

Plus I don't believe this will be around our entire lives. There are lots of clever people around and I'm sure they'll find a way of managing this pandemic better than the careless free for all most here are yearning.

Maybe. Maybe not. For something that's been forced from such high levels, it is odd that no particularly valid studies have been done. We do know that the difference in virus spread between places with stringent mask mandates and those without is largely the same. I guess you could wear a helmet 24X7? Maybe a mouthguard. Surely would give a little protection.

I assume that's in jest? You're actually comparing highly engineered, certified and tested seatbelts on vehicles with a piece of cloth that nanna has whipped up on the Singer and doesn't wear properly?

I think your being a little silly and simplistic about the whole mask wearing thing.
Of course it helps a little, common sense would tell anybody that.
I think your stuck on the idea that it's being forced on us by high level gov... Who cares it's still common sense.

Well no. It’s not simplistic. If you can show me some evidence that it’s an effective measure (especially in our current format where virtually the only place they’re required is on aeroplanes) then I’ll happily review it. But we know they do virtually nothing. As I alluded to, many things in life may “help a little”, so why do we focus on this?
