I cancelled all my proposed BA flights for early next year. coughpy airline to start with, coughpy main airport and now strikes. Land at CDG and Eurostar to London. Finnair, Air Malta and Turkish across Europe.
 
Agree - Finnair is becoming the go to airline. (Except they are tardy at posting SC).

And I won’t forget that it was BA that started the whole OW noninterline issue with separate tickets

I'm flying tomorrow. Been sweating it out waiting for updates on both strikes all week.

Thankfully the BA Pilots are bound by an agreement to give 14 days notice so they can't walk out until Aug 6th.

Also LHR management made the airport workers an offer they need to do a membership vote on, so this weekend's shutdown is not going ahead.
 
I hope they sack all the pilots. In a country that is trying to work out how to manage the Brexit nightmare, it is perhaps poor timing that some guys doing certain jobs want stellar conditions....

TK business is pretty good, - proper business in Europe, not 'Eurobusiness'. Haven't used KM myself either, yet.
 
Hmmm I have a reward flight booked via QF with BA from BUD to LHR on the 18th of Aug. If that flight is affected I'm guessing both will try to palm it off to the other to fix.

Wondering whether to cancel it & book a revenue fare (probably with Wizz) just so I don't have to worry about it.

With shortage of pilots, this is a great business strategy.

Brexit is a mess completely of the governing British Conservative Party's own making.

As for striking Pilots... that is an indicator of how good BA are at Industrial Management. Their management of personal data isn't great either...

My understanding is that UK High Court upheld that it was a lawful ballot and they are entitled to strike. BA have appealed that decision. So another slight delay. Tactics aimed at stalling... Many Pilots are now probably a bit more motivated to want to strike.

If any strikes go ahead, as many have said, 2 weeks notice is required.

For those of us that have redeemed QF points on BA it will be interesting if it impacts us on days that we are scheduled to travel. I've been impacted before when BA have been on strike connecting from QF from OZ or other airlines into Europe (at FRA) or AY (at HEL) and on both occasions LH came to the rescue.

Not sure how that will pan out at peak holiday time in the UK Summer and the massive number of people BA fly around the world then. There's a limit to how many planes you can charter from QR or rebook on other carriers.

It's a pity that BA these days is a shell of a company it once was...

I like your interesting suggestions. But Air Malta across Europe? I'm no fan of BA, but really? Aren't they a bit small to really compare with? IMHO their network and hub is not really comparing apples with apples, maybe Grapefruit with Kumquats? Who do KM and Eurostar align themeslves airline points wise?
 
The airline business is dynamic, todays dog is tomorrows champion .. or vice versa.
We used an airline in Europe short haul that has now gone broke.. it was very good…AT THE TIME...

Within Europe. :) Malta to Istanbul.

Sorry, longer story than I thought appropriate here. I had a RTW itinerary which included 3 BA legs within Europe. They started stuffing me around, so I got rid of 'em, replaced, as I mentioned, with Finnair, Turkish and Air Malta (the latter 2 ex the ticket). Turned out a more efficient itinerary - again, being handcuffed to one alliance doesn't always work out well.

BA, like Qantas, act like they are a top premium airline that everyone wants to fly. I'm sure they'll survive without me, but ejecting BA for me was an easy decision.

I have three short intraeuropean BA flights on 8 and 11 September (outside the strike dates), but this morning I received emails from BA saying that my flights were cancelled and I could rebook them. In manage my booking it says that the flights "may be affected" but not cancelled and offers me the opportunity to rebook. On experflyer the flights are not cancelled, although the same flights on 9 and 10 September show "cancelled" in EF.
Should I do anything? I could understand that BA expects problems on the 11 if their aircraft are not positioned at the right airports, but what about the 8?
Anyone else receive a cancellation email even if their flight is before the strike?
 
We are fortunate as have already taken 2 of the 3 BA flights this trip.The third is on 22/9 so should be safe.
 
Only one BA flight in September and it's on the 3rd so looks like I'm in the clear for now. It's ex-HKG so there was a potential double whammy.
