Best balance transfer and QFF points deal available now?

Looking to tap into your collective expertise.

Can anyone advise what is the best deal going at the moment that gives a QFF points signup bonus (don't care about points earn) AND includes an interest free/low interest balance transfer period?

It's a bit tricky to secure both, but it's not impossible.

Usually, sign up bonuses are conditional of a minimum spend being done within a set period (e.g. 50k points after $3000 spend within 3 months)
However typically BT offers are requested during the application, so by the time you receive your card you'll have a sizable balance transferred, and no interest free period.

You can still spend on your card to meet the first requirement, but your spend will unfortunately attract interest charges. You'll need to pay it off asap, but people have been receiving mixed results (and lots of headaches) trying to pay off purchases without touching the BT.

Alternately, apply for the card, do the requisite spend & call up and request a BT, but then they may not offer you the same offer as you would get with the sign up promotion.

Probably the best offer available at the moment with your requirements is the Jetstar Platinum Card via this link.

Get up to 50,000 bonus Qantas Points

It gives you 50,000 QFF points after $3,000 spend in 60 days, a 0% 10 month BT and a low annual fee of $149. However, as jlien mentioned above, when you have an active BT you will no longer have interest free days on purchases. That means purchases will accrue interest straight away from the purchase date but you need to spend $3000 in 60 days in order to gain the bonus points. Bankwest also has a similar offer but the point earn rates are not as good, though the spend requirement is slightly less (2.5k over 3 months).

If you don't feel like running that gauntlet but prepared to pay slightly more in annual fee, the next best option would be the NAB Qantas Premium Card. It is basically 40,000 points after making an everyday purchase (no large spend requirement), 0% for 15 months BT but the annual fee is $250.


Lastly if you decide that you don't need a BT and haven't previously taken up the ANZ offer, the ANZ Black Cards with 50k bonus points, no annual fee and 2 lounge invites are the best value cards overall for 'bonus points' at the moment.
