Cash upgrades at airport

Have a Y ticket booked for REP-KUL-SYD soon for a relative.

I recall on a previous visit to the Satellite MH Lounge at KUL that they had a sign up listing prices for cash upgrades to J/F. Anyone know what the going rate is for KUL-SYD? Or would I get the same/better deal by asking at check in at REP for the whole journey?

Don't know about that route but when I asked for KUL-MEL in July they quoted MYR2,290.

Yes, that would've been at the reception desk of the lounge. Personally, I would bid for an upgrade instead as you'll know for sure about 48 hours before and, if unsuccessful, you can always try one last time for a cash upgrade at the lounge.

As far as I'm concern, the prices vary from time to time. I believe it also depends on availability, so if limited seats then it gets more expensive?

No, I actually asked at the service (sales?) desk near the MH check-in counters.

The signs at the lounge entrance haven't been there for a long time.

I wonder if it's even still possible? Maybe the on-line upgrade system has replaced it?
