Club Rooms Costing Additional 50$ for a 2nd Adult

I often don't pay attention too much when booking IHG rooms on the # of Adults for the room and I am usually travelling with my wife. But I was about to reserve a Sheraton Club Room in Sydney and realized the price dials up 50$ When going from 1 to 2 adults and was a little surprised as I assumed the basic configuration of the room is 2 PAX so why is there an extra charge. Is this typical for SPG or SOTP specifically; haven't experienced this at IHG to date. Only time I think more about it is when I am booking resort type stuff with meal plans.

Its quite normal, a lot of chains around the world charge for a second person. It's kind of like any airline charging for baggage :mrgreen:

Some program's offer their members "spouse stays free" benefits at elite level.

Interesting ... I think what threw me was it is only for Club rooms in the case of SOTP. So it is like a 'luxury'tax

I am totally comfortable with paying for additional PAX when you exceed standard Room configs I.e. Extra person rates but not in this case where the room is sold normally at a price for 2Adults ...oh how we learn...

I definitely know that at Hyatt the price of a club room is dependent on number of people occupying the room.

Another interesting twist on this is if you bump up to the executive terrace suite one up from the Sheraton Club room pricing ...it doesn't matter if you have 1 or 2 adults ..it is the same price ..so looks like if you spend quite a bit they ignore it; if you are wanting club access they make you pay 'per head' extra but you are not charged a different amount if it is just room only. Reckoning 'breakfast' packages would also be impacted by this as you have more than 1 person 'consuming'...
