@marcojim
I have done exactly this on the Coles platinum MC: paid a couple of extra thousand into the card as I was then going to buy airfares for the family. No problems at all.

As it was in my first year owning the card I wasn’t allowed to have a credit increase to cover the cost of the flights (in foreign currency), but still wanted to use the card for the international transaction free benefit. The call centre staff member I was speaking to about the credit limit increase actually suggested I do it.

No fee or issue.
Paid extra $ in, waited a day or two to confirm positive balance, then bought the airfares.

Great to know thanks! It’s my first month having a credit card so learning all about how to use it. Did you just use bpay to pay the extra money onto the card?

Didn’t bpay, just did a direct transfer from my bank account onto the card. (which I guess is effectively the same as a bpay, but without any middleman)
