I have a quandary

I have the return journey of a booking in Jan - then another outbound March/Return May. As I read the terms, I would need to status match in February (4 months) to get the auto-renewel?

On the plus side, looks like I can change my loyalty program on existing bookings.

Thoughts?

Ok, I don't think the Etihad website likes Australian broadband ISPs - couldn't join as a new member, getting page errors, until I hotspot using my mobile. Then it worked. I applied to status match my VA SG for their SG, so now waiting for their response.

It looks like the free gold (plat?) offer for AU has expired and now has a US $79 application fee.
As with all these kinds of promos you gotta get in early or miss out!

I gave EY Plat a whirl... the F lounge in AUH has an incredible menu!

Ok, just got my status match for VA SG to EY SG approved - applied yesterday night, approved 12 hours later. No cost. Never flown EY in my life. May have to try it out now.

It says platinum to gold though when I try and do it, did it say plat to plat for you guys? And now they have the fee again.... oh man I can't believe I missed this deal of a lifetime, I might try and email them.

platinum to gold

From what I can tell, you can match to Silver and pay a fee, but if you match to Gold it's free. The highest you can match to is Gold now - in the past it was Platinum.

Seems there is no match to Platinum for anyone since at least today.

I didn't bother I could not see a use for it. If I were to do the one EY return it would be while VA is still a partner ... and then I have no plans to do anything subsequently with Etihad Guest Status ... For me it was likely just another pretty card to file ...

Not for (now) USD79 and 'only' Gold. I did consider Platinum.for zip, but read on.

Generally status matches can be once only, or at least limited if you have had one before from a service.

So my policy is to "match" where I can have reasonable use, "pretty card" not withstanding.

My best have been Airpoints (6 years of Gold Elite), Hyatt Globalist (nee Diamond, 5 years) and Velocity Platinum.

I literally described this problem and work around 4 posts prior (see post #78)…. Hmmm.

Good Job reading the T & C's. There's all sorts of stuff in the pages and pages that we often "accept" with a click of a mouse!

Really the F lounge is the main one... if you live in UAE then chauffeur service is also good.
