There was a report a few days ago (ABC??) where they interviewed tourist operators in WA turning away bookings because they couldn't get staff.

Probably a few Melburnians would be keen for a job. But assuming they are allowed in, the cost of quarantine and airfares would be a big disincentive on top of job keeper/jobseeker.

Indeed it does.But I prefer an optimistic outlook whilst they have a pessimistic outlook.
Sure you can look at the plateau and worry it hasn't turned down or be happy that the number of new cases each day is no longer going up.

or are we seeing a saturation of testing capacity/capability in the regions experiencing the most recent rapid increases (e.g. India, Indonesia etc.)?

It does seem that the rate of infection is actually still rising. India, Brazil and the USA, which seems to be suffering another uptick over the last few days, had the biggest increases.

The UK, Spain, Argentina and Indonesia are all on the rise (initial curve, or again), with significant numbers. Many places are far from being under control.

Worth noting the context for the graph, particular SE Asia is different to what we would normally think of as SE Asia ....

Western Pacific includes Oceania, China, Japan, South Korea, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, whilst
South East Asia includes Thailand, Indonesia, India, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, East Timor .... and North Korea.

Israel has also gone back into a lockdown scenario.

So many countries bouncing in and out. Hoping all our jurisdictions in AU can work both independently & cooperatively to stop further waves in Australia. (And restrain the political point scoring).

We are going to have to live with this for at least 2 years so effective more or less uniform and easily understood consistant measures need to be in place to allow reduced risk of movement both throughout the nation and internationally.

So I have been asked to attend the office tomorrow, apart from a brief visit to grab something from my locker back in June, haven't worked there sine mid March.

Our regional offices (in NSW and Queensland) have been open for about 3 weeks with voluntary attendance - these are offices (one is actually in Sydney outer burbs) which have small workforce, parking (so need to take PT).

Our Sydney Head office reopened with limits this week - 4 floors (out of 20) are open but only collaboration (larger meeting) rooms with strict people limits and a subset of desks are available - all have to be booked for a full day (no change of usage during the day). We used to hot desk, my floor is not open for use but I am allowed to go there briefly to access locker if needed, but must not linger as except for the open 4 floors the air con is turned off and no cleaning services.

Have had to do a special return to office online course, will have to check in and out, 2 people per lift and have to wear a mask in lifts (but not at desk). Prinetrs have been changed to one touch, i.e. swipe your card and anything in the queue from your account will print all at once (no more selecting items to print from touch screen), extra hand sanitiser stations, wipes to clean down desk every couple of hours (with professional clean over night).

Im not thrilled to be going, but will use it as an opportunity to print some stuff (no printer at home) and grab last of my personal stuff from locker, in case im redundant in a few weeks. Will report back tomorrow night on how it was.

I've found it interesting that in some of the smaller towns in Mallorca we've visited everyone has been wearing masks all the time e.g. even when walking around outside etc. I believe extra measures are being implemented on a region by region basis here. In general it's like a ghost town here. Lots of hotels closed, restaurants closed etc. We had to settle for Burger King last night...

Confirmed today, we were in another area and were told off by the Guardia Civil. Given a warning and told if we weren't wearing it outside too it'd be a €10 fine each. Lesson learned........
